Abstract:

Finding the equilibrium path by non-linear structural analysis is one of the most important subjects in structural engineering. In this way, Incremental-Iterative methods are extremely used. This paper introduces several factors in incremental steps. In addition, it suggests some control criteria for the iterative part of the non-linear analysis. These techniques are based on the geometric of equilibrium path. Finally, some examples illustrate the capabilities of suggested approaches.

A New Iterative Fuzzy-Based Method for Image Enhancement (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper presents a new filtering approach based on fuzzy-logic which has high performance in mixed noise environments. This filter is mainly based on the idea that each pixel is not allowed to be uniformly fired by each of the fuzzy rules. In the proposed filtering algorithm, the rule membership functions are tuned iteratively in order to preserve the image edges. Several test experiments we...

A Note on Some Higher-Order Iterative Methods Free from Second Derivative for Solving Nonlinear Equations

In the recent paper [M. A. Noor, W. A. Khan, K. I. Noor and Eisa Al-Said, Higher-order iterative methods free from second derivative for solving nonlinear equations, International Journal of the Physical Sciences, Vol. 6 (8) (2011), 1887-1893] several iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations are presented. One of the methods is the three-step iterative method given in Algorithm (2.10) ...

Design Patterns for Research Methods: Iterative Field Research

For the last two decades the idea of design patterns has been a useful abstraction for computer scientists and programmers. As computer scientists, and scientists of all fields, are more than just programmers, we can apply the patterns concept to more than just program design. Indeed, the meta-creative processes and research methods which generate the code can also be viewed through the pattern...

islanding detection methods for microgrids

A Note on Some Generalized Summability Methods

In this paper, we continue our investigations in line of our recent papers, Savas and Das [16] and Das, Savas and Ghosal [5]. We introduce the notion of AI statistical convergence which includes the new summability methods studied in [16] and [5] as special cases and make certain observations on this new and more general summability method.

Local convergence of some iterative methods for generalized equations

We study generalized equations of the following form: 0 ∈ f(x) + g(x) + F (x) (∗); where f is Fréchet differentiable in a neighborhood of a solution x∗ of (*) and g is Fréchet differentiable at x∗ and where F is a set-valued map acting in Banach spaces. We prove the existence of a sequence (xk) satisfying 0 ∈ f(xk) + g(xk) + ( ∇f(xk) + [xk−1, xk; g] ) (xk+1− xk) + F (xk+1) which is super-linear...
