Pretreatment Effect on the Properties of Electroless Nano - Crystalline Nickel Phosphorous Coating
Authors
Abstract:
the influence of mechanical polishing pre-treatments on steel substrates is investigated in terms of microstructure, deposition rate, adhesion, mechanical and corrosion properties of electroless Ni-P nanocoating with 9-10% wt. of P content. XRD analysis of Ni-P coatings demonstrated the nanocrystalline structure of coating with the grain size of 39 nm. Results showed that pretreatment of substrate can affect the microstructure and modularity of coatings. Coatings with homogeneous surface profile and lower nodule boundaries had higher corrosion resistance. The roughness of the substrate had a direct influence on the surface roughness of the substrate which had a direct influence on the surface roughness of the applied coating.Prog. THE STUDY OF ELECTROLESS COATING OF NICKEL ON CARBON FIBERS
The continuity and thickness of the coating layer, are the most important factors in wetting properties and strength of carbon fibers. These factors are crucial in the quality of metal matrix composites made with carbon fibers. In this research the Polyacrylonitrail base carbon fibers have been nickel coated with 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 11 ,u in thickness, by the electroless method. The effect of the...

The pretreatment of the substrate, prior to Electroless Nickel (EN) plating, plays an important role in the corrosion protection provided by the EN deposit. Many factors in the pretreatment process can affect the corrosion resistance of the EN deposit. The details of mechanical treatment, chemical/elecuo polishing, acid activation, and pre-processing procedure (such as nickel strike) are among ...
full textEffects of Pretreatment on the Structure and Properties of Electroless Nickel Coatings
m e pretreatment process can significantly affect the corrosion resistance of Electroless Nickel (EN) coatings. One of the most important reasons is that different pretreatment processes can give different surface morphologies of the substrate. The Sanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) and the Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) have been used to investigate the structure and properties of EN coa...
full textEffect of Microstructure of Ferrous Substrate on Porosity of Electroless Nickel Coating
The corrosion resistance of electroless nickel (EN) coatings on ferrous substrates is affected by coating porosity. Carbon and iron carbide are present in the microstructure of ferrous alloys. If the sites of carbon and iron carbide are not catalytically active to EN deposition as the rest of substrate surface, there is a possibility of pore formation on these sites. In the present study, the r...
