Abstract:

Background & Aims: Trichotillomania (TTM) is an unknown disorder and resistant to treatment. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the new metacognitive-cognitive-behavioral model for trichotillomania. Methods: The present study was a description and correlation study. In this study, 635 participants (304 male and 331 female) were selected. The participants completed the Massachusetts general hospital hair pulling scale (MGH-HPS), dysfunctional attitude scale (DAS), cognitive distortion scale (CDS), automatic thought questionnaire (ATQ), metacognition questionnaire (MCQ), and the obsessive-compulsive behavior scale (OCBS). For reliability assessment of the factor structure of the metacognitive-cognitive-behavioral model, the structural equation modeling analysis was used by AMOS software. Results: The results of the structural equation modeling supported a metacognitive-cognitive-behavioral model for trichotillomania. Moreover, the results showed that the model had the best fit to the data and was closely related to the theoretical assumptions. Conclusion: The model presented in this study illustrates a multidimensional approach that focuses on the metacognitive, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions; hence, the model presented in this study is a new explanatory model. This model may prompt future research into trichotillomania and facilitate clinical treatment and case formulation

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Development and Validation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Package Based on Detachment of Emotion and Goal for Adjunctive Psychotherapy of Individuals with Bipolar Disorder: A Descriptive Study

Background and Objectives: Bipolar disorder has a lot of cost for treatment system. Adjunctive psychotherapies are used in treatment of bipolar disorder for reducing signs, preventing recurrence and increasing drug adherence. The aim of current research was developing and validating cognitive behavioral therapy based on detachment of emotion and goal for bipolar disorder. Materials and Methods...

Development and Validation of a Behavioral Measure of Metacognitive Processes (BMMP)

750-1000 words) Based on the assumption that learning is a generative process involving human cognitive, metacognitive and motivational processes (Wittrock, 1990), the focus of learning is not only on the final outcome (i.e. performance outcome) but also the process of learning (Mayer, 1999). The interactive nature of computer-based learning environments impose challenges to learners by leaving...

The trichotillomania scale for children: development and validation.

Trichotillomania (TTM) is a chronic impulse control disorder characterized by repetitive hair-pulling resulting in alopecia. Although this condition is frequently observed in children and adolescents, research on pediatric TTM has been hampered by the absence of validated measures. The aim of the present study was to develop and test a new self-report measure of pediatric TTM, the Trichotilloma...
