چکیده
during the period from 1996 to 1997, 45 isolates of leishmania were recovered frompatients suspected of cutaneous leishmaniasis (cl) and one from a gerbil. these specimens werereceived from various parts of iran. isoenzyme profiles of these isolates were compared with those ofreference strains of l.tropica, l.major and l.infantum using cellulose acetate electrophoresis (cae) and10 enzyme systems (mdh,me, nh1, nh2, pgm, gpi, 6pgd, got, sod and g6pd). the isolateobtained from the gerbil was characterized as l.major. from the patients with cl, 27 isolates werecharacterized as l.tropica, 10 as l.major and 8 remained undetermined.

Drug-Resistant Leishmania tropica Parasites Detected in Iranian Cutaneous Leishmaniasis
Background: Numerous studies have documented high rates of functional impairment among bipolar disorder (BD) patients, even during phases of remission. However, the majority of the available instruments used to assess functioning have focused on global measures of functional recovery rather than specific domains of psychosocial functioning. In this context, the Functioning Assessment Short Test...

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) infections in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are dramatically increasing in Mediterranean countries such as Spain, France and Italy. A study has been carried out to characterize biochemically the agents of typical or unusual VL in subjects with HIV infection and to compare results with those obtained so far from VL and cutaneous leishmania...

Background: Monoclonal antibodies have been employed extensively for the identification of Leishmania species, development of diagnostic tests and in the characterization of defined leishmanial antigens. Objectives: Identification and characterization of Leishmania spp. directly from cutaneous lesions of infected individuals. Methods: An immunoperoxidase test (Avidin-Biotin technique) using mo...

We report four disseminated cutaneous leishmaniasis(DCL) cases referred to leishmaniasis laboratory at the School of Public Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences with multiple nodular, ulcerative and crusted lesions extended on the face, trunk, and extremities. None of the patients had any complication and historical involvement in their immunological system conditions that suggest as t...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization of Leishmania Species Isolated from Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Yemen
BACKGROUND Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a neglected tropical disease endemic in the tropics and subtropics with a global yearly incidence of 1.5 million. Although CL is the most common form of leishmaniasis, which is responsible for 60% of DALYs lost due to tropical-cluster diseases prevalent in Yemen, available information is very limited. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS This study was con...
متن کاملGENOTYPE CHARACTERIZATION OF Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis ISOLATED FROM HUMAN AND CANINE BIOPSIES WITH AMERICAN CUTANEOUS LEISHMANIASIS
INTRODUCTION American tegumentary leishmaniasis (ATL) can be caused by Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis complex. The evolution of ATL initially results in lesions and can develop into disseminated or diffuse forms. The genetic diversity of L. (V.) braziliensis in some endemic areas of Brazil has been poorly studied, such as in the state of São Paulo. This study analyzed the genetic diversity o...
