چکیده

کتاب در باب ترجمه، اثر استر آلن و سوزان برنوفسکی منتشر شده در ماه می 2013 توسط نشریه کلمبیا است. نویسندگان در این کتاب به بررسی 18 مترجم با در نظر گرفتن نقش آثاری که این مترجمان ترجمه کرده اند میپردازند. کتاب به دو بخش تقسیم میشود: " مترجم در جهان" و " کار مترجم" این دو بخش مقالات همیشگی ترجمه و موقعیت خاص ادبیات بیگانه در جهان وسیع امروزی را مورد خطاب قرار میدهد. در این کتاب مقالات متعددی از نویسندگان مشهور آمده است. سبک نگارش این کتاب بسیار شباهت به مقاله ای پژوهشی دارد و در عین حال از جملات طولانی و زبان های گوناگون استفاده شده که فهم آن را با دشواری مواجه می کند. نویسندگان این کتاب در تدوین آن از منابع بسیاری بهره گرفته اند که این مقالات شامل زبانهای گوناگونی می شوند. این اثر به دو بخش تئوری و عملی تقسیم می شود که هر دو بخش بر روی تجربیات مترجمان تمرکز دارند. شیوه های مورد بحث در این کتاب تا حدی با یکدیگر متفاوتند که این تفاوت خود تاکیدی است بر وجود تواناییهای متنوع در میان مترجمان. بنابر این یکی از اهداف اصلی این کتاب بررسی ترجمه و مترجم از دیدگاه های مختلف است. اگرچه عواملی چون چند زبانگی، بدیع بودن موضوعات مطرح شده و گوناگونی مقالات بر پیچیدگی خواندن و درک آن افزوده است، ولی مطالعه آن برای دانش پژوهان ترجمه سودمند است. کتاب حاضر منبع تحقیقاتی مهمی برای دانشجویان ، پژوهشگران مطالعات ترجمه، ادبیات میان فرهنگی، و مطالعات فرهنگی است و اطلاعات ارزشمندی را در مورد مقوله ترجمه در اختیار خواننده قرار می دهد.
