background transurethral resection of the prostate (turp) is the most common surgical treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. objectives the aim of the present study was to compare the conventional bipolar transurethral resection of prostate (turp) with a modified transurethral resection of the prostate (m-turp) in men with mild to moderate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. patients...
Transurethral resection of the prostate is the gold standard in the operative management of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate using saline solution is a safe technique and reduces the risk of transurethral resection syndrome. This report discusses a rare complication of bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate: the extravasation of 0.9% saline ...
Most T1 bladder cancers are high grade and have the potential to progress to muscle invasion and extravesical dissemination. Many studies reported that ∼50% of patients displayed residual tumors when a second transurethral resection was performed 2-6 weeks after the initial resection for patients who were diagnosed with T1 bladder cancer. Furthermore, muscle-invasive disease was detected by the...

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of preoperative forced-air warming on perioperative hypothermia and shivering in elderly patients undergoing transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) under spinal anesthesia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients (> 65-year-old) sc...

Prior to embracing these newer technologies, the authors' experiences with conventional transurethral resection of the prostate should be evaluated and compared with those experienced in the newer modalities. The objective was to determine whether a standard transurethral r...
Venous air embolism is a rare complication during transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). We report a case of air embolism during TURP under general anesthesia in a 56-year-old man. Incorrect assembly of the resectoscope-drain aspiration system caused rapid entrainment of air into the vein of the prostate bed. Rapid recognition of the condition and prompt treatment are required.
