It has been alleged in several papers that the so-called delayed continuous-time random walks (DCTRWs) provide a model for the one-dimensional telegraph equation at microscopic level. This conclusion, being widespread now, is strange, since the telegraph equation describes phenomena with finite propagation speed, while the velocity of the motion of particles in the DCTRWs is infinite. In this p...

The gate dependence of a Coulomb attractive random telegraph signal is observed in a single-walled carbon nanotube field effect transistor for temperatures varying from 0.32 to 24 K. The mechanism of the Coulomb attractive random telegraph signal is attributed to the carrier tunneling between the carbon nanotube and the Coulomb attractive defect. The random telegraph signal is also studied unde...

The interaction between the telegraph noise and background voltage fluctuations in the current induced dissipative state of high-Tc BiSrCaCuO thin films has been investigated. Experimental time records of the voltage drop across current biased thin film strips show markedly different background noise traces in the up and down telegraph states. Detailed analysis demonstrates that fluctuations ar...

Cosmic rays (CR), constrained by scattering on magnetic irregularities, are believed to propagate diffusively. However, a well-known defect of diffusive approximation, whereby some of the particles propagate unrealistically fast, has directed interest toward an alternative CR transport model based on the “telegraph” equation. Though, its derivations often lack rigor and transparency leading to ...

The transmission of information has gone through various stages of evolution throughout its history. A stage before that of the electric telegraph was the so-called aerial/optical telegraph. It was developed towards the end of the 18 century and was in service until the middle of the 19 century. Chappe’s system was widely used in France, and was the first to be in consistent use. However, a new...

in this paper, the chebyshev spectral collocation method(cscm) for one-dimensional linear hyperbolic telegraph equation is presented. chebyshev spectral collocation method have become very useful in providing highly accurate solutions to partial differential equations. a straightforward implementation of these methods involves the use of spectral differentiation matrices. firstly, we transform ...

We compensate by a prefilter the distortion of an input signal along an electric line modeled by the telegraph equation. The prefilter is based on the so-called flatnessproperty of the telegraph equation. We derive the explicit equation of the filter and illustrate the relevance of our approach by a few simulations.

In this paper, we apply the variational iteration method (VIM) for solving telegraph equations, which arise in the propagation of electrical signals along a telegraph line. The suggested algorithm is more efficient and easier to handle as compare to the decomposition method. Numerical results show the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed VIM.
