A. Ardeshir, F. Bahadori and A. Tahershamsi,

In this paper, development of a semi-two- dimensional mathematical model called SDAR is introduced. The model is composed of two principal modules of hydraulics and sediment transport. The newly developed SDAR model has a number of capabilities including determination of sediment transport rate, aggradation - degradation&#10calculation, longitudinal profile and lateral cross–sectional variation...

the understanding soil erosion processes and the development of accurate erosion prediction models require understanding of detachment, deposition and sediment transport in rills. to evaluate the effect of soil type and flow stream power on the relative importance of flow driven processes of sediment transport, and on the boundary between the processes regarding to particle size, experiments we...

Pufendorf’s major work on “The Law of Nature and of Nations” has never been considered to have had much influence on economics and on the development of economics as a science. The present paper by no means attempts to propagate a different view. This would be inappropriate. However, what Pufendorf says about the importance of contracts among the members of a community and the formation of supr...

The aim of this short paper is to explore a new connection between a conjecture concerning sharp boundary observability estimates for the 1-D heat equation in small time and a conjecture concerning the cost of null-controllability for a 1-D convection-diffusion equation with constant coefficients controlled on the boundary in the vanishing viscosity limit, in the spirit of what is done in [Pier...

Traditional database management systems are best equipped to run onetime queries over finite stored data sets. However, many modern applications such as network monitoring, financial analysis, manufacturing, and sensor networks require long-running, or continuous, queries over continuous unbounded streams of data. In the STREAM project at Stanford, we are investigating data management and query...

While MPI is the most common mechanism for expressing parallelism, MPI programs remain poorly integrated in Unix environments. We introduce MPISH2, an MPI process manager analogous to serial Unix shells. It provides better integration capabilities for MPI programs by providing a uniform execution mechanism for parallel and serial programs, exposing return codes and standard I/O stream information.
