Background: The toxic effect of sodium arsenate on nervous system has been shown; but the protective effects of several compounds against sodium arsenate are not clear. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of nicotine and bucladesine, two positive modulators of neuronal function, on sodium arsenate toxicity against avoidance memory impairment. Methods: Male mice (N=154) were ...
A Study was made on the interaction between histon H1 and sodium n-dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in the presence of sodium arsenate inside a phosphate buffer of pH 6.4, using spectroscopy and equilibrium dialysis at 27 °C. The binding data has been used to obtain the gibbs free energy in terms of a theoretical model based on the Wyman binding potential. The binding data hs been analysed...
background: in the present study, histopathological effects of chronic exposure to sodium arsenate in drinkable water were studied on a quantity of organs of rat. methods: rats were divided into two groups, group i served as control group, were main-tained on deionized drinkable water for 2 months, and group ii the study group were given 60 g/ml of sodium arsenate in deionized drinkable water ...

Joint toxicity of arsenate and perchlorate was tested in larvae of Danio rerio. Results indicated that the 96-h median lethal concentrations of sodium arsenate and sodium perchlorate were 258.8 and 1,401.2 mg/L, respectively, and that arsenate and perchlorate generally showed a concentration-additive effect.
Biological characterization and bioremediation potential of an arsenic hyper-accumulating marine mesophilic bacterium, Aeromonas punctata strain MPT4 isolated from the Ferromanganese ore loading site of marmugao port trust harbour (N15°24’ 28.3” and E 073° 48’ 17.6”), Goa, India is presented in this study. The taxonomic placement of this isolate was done on the basis of biochemical tests(as per...
Sodium arsenate induces developmental malformations in a variety of experimental animals. In the golden hamster, the intravenous (or intraperitoneal) administration of 20 mg/kg of sodium arsenate during day 8 to 9 of gestation induces a rather specific spectrum of congenital malformations. This period corresponds to the period of very rapid differentiation and major organogenesis in this animal...
Arsenate (As (V)) is the dominant form of the toxic metalloid arsenic (As). Microorganisms have consequently developed mechanisms to detoxify and tolerate this kind of compounds. In the present work, we have explored the arsenate sensing and signaling mechanisms in the pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. Although mutants impaired in the Hog1 or Mkc1-mediated pathways did not show significant se...
Arsenic contamination in soils often leads to groundwater contamination and arsenic toxicity in plants, humans and animals. Plant hormones play a quantitative and qualitative role in the coordination of growth and yield in plants. In this research the effects of gibberellin and sodium arsenate in different genotypes of rice were studied. The work has been conducted as a factorial experiment bas...
Microbial arsenate resistance is known to be conferred by specialized oxidoreductase enzymes termed arsenate reductases. We carried out a genetic selection on media supplemented with sodium arsenate for multicopy genes that can confer growth to E. coli mutant cells lacking the gene for arsenate reductase (E. coli ΔarsC). We found that overexpression of glutathione S-transferase B (GstB) complem...
