pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important life-threatening nosocomial pathogen and plays a prominent role in serious infections in burned patients. the current study was undertaken to characterize p. aeruginosa strains isolated from burned patients in tehran, iran. the study was conducted in a major burn center in tehran, iran in 2007. a total of seventy specimens obtained from different clinical ...
shigellosis is an acute gastroenteritis caused by shigella species. the purpose of this study was to determine plasmid profile, antibiotic resistance and phenotypic virulent by congo red between s. flexneri strains. the isolated bacteria were identified by standard bacterial and biochemical methods. plasmids were isolated by alkaline lysis method. antibiotic susceptibility test was performed ac...
Plasmid genotypes of root nodulating rhizobial isolates of Sesbania, sampled from six ecologically distinct habitats, were characterized. Plasmid profile analysis revealed nine different plasmid types having molecular masses ranging from 30 to 300 MDa, distributed among six profile types that grouped the isolates into six plasmid classes. The six plasmid profiles were diverged from each other a...
Plasmid profiling was used to determine the variability of normal flora isolates of Staphylococcus epidermidis in order to evaluate the usefulness of plasmid profiling for identifying pathogens. Fifteen hospital staff members and patients repeatedly had cultures taken from the hands and nares, and multiple isolates were examined for plasmid profiles. S epidermidis isolated from the nares of 15 ...
conclusions resistance to oxacillin and other antibiotics was high, and most of the isolates were found to be multi-drug resistance (mdr). plasmid analysis of representative s. aureus isolates also demonstrates the presence of a wide range of plasmid sizes, with no consistent relationship between plasmid profiles and resistance phenotypes. regular surveillance of hospital infections and monitor...
We studied the plasmid profiles of 136 Shigella isolates in Bangladesh to determine whether plasmid profiles could be used for differentiation of strains for epidemiological studies. Many different plasmid patterns were observed within each species, indicating that many genetically different strains of Shigella are responsible for illness in Bangladesh.
A group of environmental and clinical Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 isolates was subtyped by monoclonal antibody dot immunoblotting and plasmid analysis. Monoclonal antibody analysis defined seven subtypes within three major groups. Plasmid analysis (including restriction endonuclease digestion) revealed 10 subtypes. By combining plasmid and monoclonal techniques, all 16 strains were shown...
