protein losing enteropathy (ple) as an initial finding of lymphoma, is extremely rare in childhood. we describe clinical and pathological features of an unusual case of gastrointestinal lymphoma presented with ple as a sole manifestation. differential diagnosis in children presenting with ple is critical because early diagnosis and treatment are important for survival in patients with lymphoma.

Introduction: Lymphoma is a common malignant tumor of the head and neck occurring during childhood. Early diagnosis is very important in terms of prognosis in patients with tonsillar lymphoma. Our objective was to evaluate the clinical manifestations of pediatric tonsillar lymphoma according to different age groups.  Materials and Methods: A systematic review of available English, Spanish, or Po...

Mature B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in childhood and adolescence. B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas are further classified into histological subtypes, with Burkitt lymphoma and Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma being the most common subgroups in pediatric patients. Translocations involving the MYC oncogene are known as relevant but not sufficient for Bur...

B-cell lymphoma in children accounts for about 10% of all pediatric malignancies. Chemotherapy has been very successful leading to an over-all 5-year survival between 80 and 90% depending on lymphoma type and extent of disease. Therapeutic toxicity remains high calling for better targeted and thus less toxic therapies. Therapeutic antibodies have become a standard element of B-cell lymphoma the...

Pediatric Burkitt lymphoma is a malignant high grade mature B-cells non-Hodgkin lymphoma, whose prognosis has radically improved thanks to advances in chemotherapy. Hence the need for early diagnosis and treatment. Our study is a report on observations of pediatric Burkitt lymphoma revealed by acute intussusception emphasizing the importance of evoking a diagnosis in front of unusual signs of d...

Abstract Background Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the second most common adnexal lymphoma of the eye that almost all of them are reported in elderly patients. Primary FL of the eye has been reported in only two children. Pediatric FL appears to be biologically distinct from typical adult FL. In cases without other organ involvement excision alone with close monitoring is a treatment of choic...

Background: Efforts were made in order to identify the etiologic factors in pediatric cancers. Several studies have suggested a probable etiologic association between lymphoma and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV); therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association of EBV in childhood lymphoma. Materials and method: Paraffin block of 63 pediatric patients with lymphoma was studied for d...

Burkitt lymphoma (BL) predominates in pediatric patients, whereas diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is uncommon. In contrast to adults, BL and DLBCL are treated similarly in children and both entities have superior outcomes in children compared with adults. Gene expression profiling (GEP) and miRNA expression profiling clearly differentiated pediatric DLBCL from BL, forming distinct cluster...

Although many pediatric B-cell lymphoma patients are being cured today, much is still unknown about the pathogenesis of this disease. Protein tyrosine phosphatases are involved in the control of survival, growth, and differentiation of cells. The authors have analyzed 26 pediatric B-cell lymphoma cases for the expression of a panel of phosphatases and report a statistically significant lower ex...

B-cell lymphomas involving Waldeyer's ring (WR) comprise heterogeneous histolopathological subtypes with a wide age range and distinctive clinical features. However, the comparison between pediatric and adult patients is scarce and limited in the literature. Thirty-three cases of B-cell lymphomas involving WR, were collected and evaluated by histolopathological, immunohistochemical and FISH ana...
