in order to investigate the role of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (mwcnts) on fracture mechanism of epoxy nanocomposites, a series of tensile standard specimens reinforced with different carbon nanotube contents (0, 0.3, 0.6 and 1 wt%) were produced. the fracture surfaces of the produced nanocomposites were evaluated using scanning electron microscope (sem). the results show that the surface frac...

Research was conducted to assess driver acceptance and performance associated with a spotter mirror feature intended to reduce the incidence of lane-change conflicts by enhancing drivers' ability to detect vehicles in their side blind zone. The spotter mirror consisted of an integrated spherical convex blind zone mirror inset within a larger planar mirror. The spotter mirror's field-of-view was...

In hard x-ray microscopy, one approach for point transmission focusing is the use of multilayer zone plates (MZP) instead of conventional Fresnel zone plates, which are difficult to prepare with high aspect ratio. In extension of our previous work on line focusing down to 6.8 nm using the combination of Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) mirror and multilayer Laue lense (MLL) [1], we have here used the appr...

Mirror tilting effects on the interface shape during crystal growth and on the etch pit density of the grown crystals were studied using a tilting-mirror-type image furnace. With increase of tilting angle of mirrors, convexities of both melt-feed and melt-crystal interface and the etch pit density of the grown crystal were systematically reduced. The melt zone, which is formed during crystal gr...

since the time man observed his picture in the water, mirror has en-tered both man’s spiritual and material life. the role of mirror has un-dergone a lot of changes, ranging from foretelling to its use by barbers in different situations, to its use as warfare, mystic allegories, literal metaphors and historical narrations such as alexander mirror located in alexandria. the present study aims to...

Large single crystals (Φ 5 × L 33 mm) of hematite (R-Fe2O3) have been grown using a CaFe4O7based solvent and 8 bar of oxygen in a four-mirror optical floating zone furnace in the traveling solvent zone configuration. The crystals grow along the [001] direction, are of excellent quality, and contain no residual Ca contamination from the solvent.

Mirror focus is one of the evidence of progression in epilepsy, and also has practical points for curative resective epilepsy surgery. The mirror foci are related to the kindling phenomena that occur through interhemispheric callosal or commissural connections. A mirror focus means the secondary epileptogenic foci develop in the contralateral hemispheric homotopic area. Thus mirror foci are mos...

In order to study the turbulent structure of wake flow around the rear view side mirror of a passenger car, moment property and energy spectra in the mirror wake and fluctuating pressure distribution on the mirror surface have been measured by several experimental tools in an open circuit wind tunnel at the Reynolds number of 2 × 105. It was found that time-averaged streamwise velocity very nea...

We describe two new clinical syndromes, mirror agnosia and mirror ataxia, both characterized by the deficit of reaching for an object through a mirror in association with a lesion of either parietal lobe. Clinical investigation of 13 patients demonstrated that the impairments affected both sides of the body. In mirror agnosia, the patients always reached toward the virtual object in the mirror ...

Seagrass and seaweed beds are very important for fish’s growth, but the beds are sensitive to environmental changes and human activities. Coastal zone monitoring is necessary for the conservation of seagrass and seaweed beds. Satellite data are used for the coastal zone monitoring. There are large atmospheric effects at the satellite data, and low altitude observations using UAV have the benefi...
