root-knot nematodes are one of the limiting factors in seedling production and new olive gardens establishment in iran. in view of find resistance cultivars to root-knot nematodes, importance of careful identification of species and races are clarified. in order to investigate root-knot nematodes on olive, soil and root samples of gardens and nursery in gorgan area were collected. in this study...

Host suitability of olive cultivars Arbequina and Picual to several plant-parasitic nematodes was studied under controlled conditions. Arbequina and Picual were not suitable hosts for the root-lesion nematodes Pratylenchus fallax, P. thornei, and Zygotylenchus guevarai. However, the ring nematode Mesocriconema xenoplax and the spiral nematodes Helicotylenchus digonicus and H. pseudorobustus rep...

ABSTRACT High infection rates of wild olive (Olea europaea sp. sylvestris) feeder roots and soil infestation by a new root-knot nematode were found in sandy soil at Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz), southern Spain. Morphometric traits and analyses of the nematode esterase electrophoretic pattern as well as of the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1)-5.8S gene and D2-D3 fragment of the 28S gene of r...

Plant parasitic nematodes, especially root knot nematodes, cause damage to most of agricultural products, and many efforts have been done to control them. In recent years, application of industrial waste and wastewater sludge as organic fertilizers in agriculture has been increased. To investigate the effects of sewage sludge on root knot nematode pathogenicity in tomato, different weights of s...

The Nematodes are roundworms that are found in every environment of the earth. While some species are harmful parasites, others play a vital role in nutrient cycle and medical research. Nematode infestation in the fields is poly-specific; however, depending on the agro-climatic conditions, one or two species are dominant over the rest. The present studies attempts to observe and control the roo...

Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., are one of the important plant parasitic nematodes of tomato in the world. The most suitable control method of plant parasitic nematodes is the use of resistance sources and tolerant cultivars. In the earlier studies, the results showed thatonly 2% (19 out of 537 varieties) were resistant and tolerant to the root knot nematodes. In the supplementary studie...

greenhouse studies showed in the transplant of tomato that two weeks before infection with nematodes with two species of mycorrhizal g. mosseae and g. intraradices had been inoculated, were significantly offseted the reduction of growth that had been done by nematodes. it should be noted that the percentage of root colonization with two species 66.3% and 62.2% respectively and based on this stu...

Olive knot disease, caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi, seriously affects olive trees in the Mediterranean basin. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of P. savastanoi pv. savastanoi DAPP-PG 722, a strain isolated in Italy from an olive plant affected by knot disease.
