Endocarditis and intracardiac infection have been increased recently especially in dialysis dependent renal failure patients. This is usually intractable infection to broad spectrum Antibiotic therapy and in most cases surgical intervention was necessary. We have presented 45 years old man with intracardiac infection at the tip of dialysis catheter that after catheter removal intracardiac infec...

Infection of prosthetic devices or implants is a rare complication of Brucellosis. Pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator infections were previously reported in 6 patients. We report the first case of relapsing Brucellosis due to intracardiac lead endocarditis, which resolved only after removing the intracardiac leads and institution of appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
BACKGROUND Intracardiac abscesses are an unusual occurrence in developed countries. With the increase in use of implantable cardiac devices, the increase use of and advancements in antibiotics, and the longevity of patients with cardiac devices, one may expect an increase in such infections; however, case reports are rare. We are presenting a case in which hematogenous dissemination of methicil...
Primary cardiac tumour is a rare entity as secondaries in the heart are more common. A 2-year-old child was having repeated respiratory tract infection with poor oral intake and poor activity for 3 months. His symptoms progressed from New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class II to IV. On evaluation he had an intracardiac mass with extracardiac extension. Emergency tumour excision under deep hypo...
The article describes a clinical case of the COVID-19 viral infection complicated with severe pneumonia, “cytokine storm”, bacteriemia, and acute myocardial injury decompensated chronic heart failure, ventricular arrhythmias, formation an intracardiac thrombus in elderly patient underlying clinically significant cardiovascular pathology.
1.1 Definitions Infective endocarditis (IE) is an endovascular, microbial infection of intracardiac structures facing the blood, including infections of the large intrathoracic vessels and of intracardiac foreign bodies. The early characteristic lesion is a variably sized vegetation, although destruction, ulceration, or abscess formation may be seen earlier by echocardiography (Habib et al, 200...
In this issue of the Journal, Kołodzińska et al. report a very intriguing finding that the presence of abrasion in the intracardiac part of the leads was strongly associated with infection. Insulation defect was frequent in their population (64%) and was significantly higher on leads extracted for an infectious indication (91%). In multivariate stepwise analysis incorporating patient age, numbe...
OBJECTIVES The extraordinarily high rate of penetrating heart injuries in South Africa provides a substantial denominator from which we derive a subset of patients with intracardiac lesions as a result of these injuries. The surgical literature, which consists largely of case reports and case series, describing various patterns of injury is dated and a review of management in the era of modern ...
