the eggs and larvae of the indian meal moth, plodia interpunctella (hübner), are widely used in mass rearing of parasitoids and predators. feeding indices and some biological parameters of p. interpunctella were studied on bran of different wheat cultivars ('back-cross roshan', 'khooshe pishgam', 'khoshki line 9', 'arg', 'alvand', 'pishtaz', 'ws-89-2', 'sepahan' and 'bam') when incorporated int...

abstract indian meal moth, plodia interpunctella hübner (pyralidae) is one of the most important stored-product insects that are controlled by fumigants. however, the use of plant essential oils and their constituents may have the advantage over conventional fumigants in terms of low mammalian toxicity and can be used as alternatives to conventional fumigants. therefore, in this research, repel...

the mill moth, ephestia kuehniella zeller and indian meal moth, plodia interpunctella (hubner) are two injuriously important pests of stored products worldwide. harobracon hebetor (say) has been used as a biological control agent of moth’s larva in peanut storehouses and as well in packaged cereal products. in the present study, the efficacy of h. hebetor in parasitizing larva of the mill moth ...

Here, we present a draft genome sequence of Bacillus altitudinis strain B-388, including a putative plasmid. The strain was isolated from the intestine of Indian meal moth, a common pest of stored grains, and it is characterized by the production of extracellular RNase, similar to binase, which is of interest for comparative studies and biotechnology.

Persistence of stored-product insects in hidden refugia and their subsequent movement into stored commodities resulting in product infestation contributes to their pest status and represents a potential target for biological control agents. Entomopathogenic nematodes have not been previously tested against stored-product insects in environments such as empty grain bins or food processing and wa...

abstract because of relation between digestive enzyme activity and feeding of insects that directly is in relation with the damage of insects; studying digestive enzyme systems is important in finding new control methods based on inhibiting digestive enzyme activity. recently using transgenic plants containing enzyme inhibitors is important in improving resistance of crops to pests because of s...

A major problem in the production, storage and marketing of nuts is the infestation of insect pests such as codling moth, naval orangeworm and Indian meal moth. Present and potential quarantine treatments for both domestic and international nut markets include chemical fumigation, ionizing radiation, controlled atmosphere, cold treatment, conventional hot air or water heating and dielectric hea...
