measurement of the stroke volume and its changes over time can be very helpful for diagnosis of dysfunctions in the blood circulatory system and monitoring their treatments. impedance cardiography (icg) is a simple method of measuring the stroke volume based on changes in the instantaneous mean impedanceof the thorax. this method has received much attention in the last two decades because it is...

Klectrie impedance plethysmography has been offered as a substitute for mechanical plethysmography and would be particularly suitable for regions in which the mechanical method cannot be applied. A comparative investigation of mechanical and impedance plethysmograms, taken simultaneously from a finger or a forearm, revealed that, while the normal pulsations were reproduced reasonably well, elec...

We demonstrate by theory, as well as by ex vivo and in vivo measurements that impedance plethysmography, applied extravascularly directly on large arteries, is a viable method for monitoring various cardiovascular parameters, such as blood pressure, with high accuracy. The sensor is designed as an implant to monitor cardiac events and arteriosclerotic progression over the long term.

Inductive plethysmography and impedance pneumography are two non-invasive technologies for measuring respiratory function. The following report describes the advantages of inductive plethysmography, which include greater accuracy and sensitivity; the ability to assess thoracoabdominal coordination; and the minimization of motion artifact. Together, these properties make inductive plethysmograph...

Recurrent venous thrombosis presents a diagnostic challenge. Venography, impedance plethysmography and fibrinogen leg scanning all have potential limitations, and their role in this context has not been evaluated. We performed a prospective cohort study evaluating impedance plethysmography and leg scanning, plus venography, using outcome on long-term follow-up as the end point in 270 patients w...
