apple scar skin disease (assd) is one of the destructive diseases of pome fruits which is caused by assvd. we report molecular detection of assvd in symptomatic apples cv. red delicious with simultaneous presence of a new variant of hsvd from khorasan razavi province. this is the first report on the association of hsvd with assvd in apple trees showing merely symptoms of apple dapple on the fruit.

plant samples were collected from yazd, isfahan, fars and tehran provinces and examined for their possible infection by hop stunt viroid (hsvd). the experimental host range of the viroid was determined by injection of infected sap into greenhouse grown seedlings and subsequent assay of inoculated plants by rt-pcr. fig, mulberry and citrus isolates of the viroid were compared with respect to hos...

abstract hop stunt viroid (hsvd) and citrus tristeza virus (ctv) are the causal agents of most important diseases of citrus. previously we reported a novel variant of hsvd that constantly associated with the yellow corky vein disease. here, 19 individual citrus leaves with yellow corky vein symptoms were sampled for ctv by elisa. in this study, most symptomatic samples were found to be infected...

Sweet lime split bark is a disorder of increasing importance in Fars province. Previously we showed that a new variant of hop stunt viroid (HSVd-sb) was related to the disorder. It had homology with a noncachexia variant of hop stunt viroid (CVd-IIa-117) which causes cracking the bark of trifoliate orange rootstocks. In this study, showed that M.NgoBIX, BglI and BsrI restriction enzymes can c...

Hop stunt viroid (HSVd), a significant pathogen of some hop cultivars, was detected for the first time in hops Australia. Plants were tested graft-transmissible pathogens prior to their use research trials. Upon observing symptoms indicative potential infection, RNA extracted and amplified using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR); HSVd identity confirmed by sequencing.

Hop stunt viroid RNA (HSV) has been detected by molecular hybridization in stunted plants of the Japanese cultivar Kirin II cultivated in Korea (1,2). For propagation, the viroid was transmitted to the wild curcarbU Benincasa Mspida which developed HSV-spedfic severe growth retardation. Isolation, purification, reverse transcription of the viroid-RNA with aid of viroid-specific primers, and seq...

Figure 1 Figure 2 Citrus fruits are traditional agricultural products in Egypt. Citrus volkameriana is the best rootstock for growing citrus in Egypt’s desert areas (newly reclaimed land). It is far superior to other rootstocks used in Egypt in its resistance to Citrus tristeza virus as well as its tolerance to drought. Constraints to fruit production are mainly related to tree decline caused b...

Here, we report complete genome sequences of grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1 (GYSVd1) and hop stunt viroid (HSVd), members of the family Pospiviroidae, assembled from the transcriptome data generated from Ixeridium dentatum plants. To our knowledge, this is the first report of GYSVd1 and HSVd in I. dentatum.
