in order to investigation of vermicompost effect on growth and yield of marigold in pot medium, an experiment was done by a randomized completely block design in three raplications. treatmnets were included control (30% v/v of soil plus 70% v/v of sand) and three levels of vermicompost (20, 40, 60 % v/v of vermicompost+30% v/v of sand and soil) that applied in three lit. pots. marigold seeds (t...

To examine the stability of repetitive-sequence (rep) PCR profiles, six species of bacteria were subcultured to blood agar plates and DNA was extracted from the cultures after 24, 48, and 72 h of incubation at 35 degrees C. In addition, the same species were subcultured to fresh blood plates daily and DNA was extracted from the cultures after growth of 5, 10, and 15 subcultures, respectively. r...

The following is an observation on the survival of dry cultures of pneumococci and streptococci for seven years under unusual and adverse conditions of storage. Dry cultures of 27 pneumococci and 10 streptococci prepared by the Division of Laboratories and Research of the Department of Health of New York (Wadsworth, 1939) were given to the author on 17th July, 1940. All the cultures were examin...

background and objective: microbial protein production can resolve one of the major world challenges, i.e. lack of protein sources. candida tropicalis growth was investigated to specify a medium to reach the highest cell proliferation and protein production. material and methods: fractional factorial design and the index of signal to noise ratio were applied for optimization of microbial protei...

A strain of Clostridium welchii produced spores in ordinary blood agar plates. Investigations confirmed that it was the character of this particular strain and that the laboratory media were not inducing sporulation. During a period of 12 months a total of 100 strains of Cl. welchii were studied. None of them produced spores in ordinary laboratory media and conditions when examined microscopica...

The Utiscreen-CORAL Biomedical system and ROBOBACT system were tested against conventional uroculture in blood agar and MacConkey agar as a reference method to determine the bacteriuria from 400 samples. For the Utiscreen-CORAL Biomedical system, a sensitivity of 92.5% was obtained. However, by the ROBOBACT system, the sensitivity was 69.9%.

Direct growth on blood and screening agar for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at a tropical surveillance site was compared with broth enrichment and subsequent growth on selective MRSA agar after international sample transport. In Madagascar, 1548 swabs from an MRSA surveillance study were assessed for growth on Columbia blood agar enriched with 5% sheep blood and MRSA screen...
