We show that the complete list of regular excluded minors for the class of signed-graphic matroids is M(G1), . . . ,M(G29), R15, R16. Here G1, . . . , G29 are the vertically 2-connected excluded minors for the class of projective-planar graphs.

Retrograde tracer injections in 29 of the 91 areas of the macaque cerebral cortex revealed 1,615 interareal pathways, a third of which have not previously been reported. A weight index (extrinsic fraction of labeled neurons [FLNe]) was determined for each area-to-area pathway. Newly found projections were weaker on average compared with the known projections; nevertheless, the 2 sets of pathway...

A Spitzer IRAC survey of 17 nearby metal-rich white dwarfs, nominally DAZ stars, reveals excess emission from only 3 targets: G29-38, GD 362 and G167-8. Observations of GD 362 with all three Spitzer instruments reveals a warm (≈ 1000 K) dust continuum, very strong silicate emission, and the likely presence of cooler (≈ 500 K) dust. While there is a general similarity between the mid-infrared sp...

We prove that a connected cographic matroid of a graph G is the bias matroid of a signed graph Σ iff G imbeds in the projective plane. In the case that G is nonplanar, we also show that Σ must be the projective-planar dual signed graph of an actual imbedding of G in the projective plane. As a corollary we get that, if G1, . . . , G29 denote the 29 nonseparable forbidden minors for projective-pl...

With XMM-Newton and the Spitzer Space Telescope, we obtain upper bounds to the X-ray fluxes from G29-38 and GD 362, and the 70 μm flux from G29-38. These data provide indirect evidence that G29-38 is accreting from a tidally disrupted asteroid: it is neither accreting large amounts of hydrogen and helium nor is its surrounding dusty disk being replenished from a reservoir of cold grains experie...

Context. G29.96−0.02 is a high-mass star-forming cloud observed at 70, 160, 250, 350, and 500 μm as part of the Herschel survey of the Galactic Plane (Hi-GAL) during the Science Demonstration Phase. Aims. We wish to conduct a far-infrared study of the sources associated with this star-forming region by estimating their physical properties and evolutionary stage, and investigating the clump mass...

We present ISOCAM 7 µm and 15 µm observations of 12 nearby white dwarfs, 6 of which have been found to have metals such as Ca, Mg and Fe in their pho-tospheres. Our purpose was to search for an excess of infrared emission above the stellar photospheres. We find that none of the white dwarfs other than G29−38 shows a detectable infrared excess and this places strong constraints on the existence ...

Metals in the photospheres of white dwarfs with Teff between 12,000 and 25,000 K should gravitationally settle out of these atmospheres in 1–2 weeks. Temporal variations in the line strengths of these metals could provide a direct measurement of episodic metal accretion. Using archival VLT and Keck spectroscopy, we find evidence that the DAZd white dwarf G29-38 shows significant changes in its ...
