This paper continues our study in fuzzy interval logic based on the Checklist Paradigm(CP) semantics of Bandler and Kohout. We investigate the fuzzy interval system of negation which was defined by the Sheffer(NAND), the Nicod(NOR) and the implication connectives of m1 interval system in depth. The top-bottom(TOPBOT) pair of fuzzy negation interval shows non-involutive property; however, it sho...

Negation in information processing is an important notion, especially in fuzzy information processing. How to cognize and deal with various negations of fuzzy information, a new fuzzy set FSCOM with contradictory negation, opposite negation and medium negation was presented in [1]. This paper defines fuzzy degree and similarity measure of fuzzy set FSCOM, gives some properties and calculation f...

In [13], we proposed that there are three kinds of negative relations which contradictory negative relation, opposite negative relation and medium negative relation in fuzzy information, and that defined a new fuzzy set FSCOM with contradictory negation, opposite negation and medium negation. In order to show applicability of FSCOM, this paper apply FSCOM to fuzzy decision making in an actual e...

n-Dimensional fuzzy sets is a fuzzy set extension where the membership values are n-tuples of real numbers in the unit interval [0, 1] orderly increased, called n-dimensional intervals. The set of n-dimensional intervals is denoted by Ln([0, 1]). This paper aims to investigate a special extension from [0, 1] – n-representable fuzzy negations on Ln([0, 1]), summarizing the class of such function...

Contrapositive symmetry (CPS) is a tautology in classical logic. In fuzzy logic, not all fuzzy implications have CPS with respect to a given strong negation. Given a fuzzy implication J , towards imparting contrapositive symmetry to J with respect to a strong negation N two techniques, viz., upper and lower contrapositivisation, have been proposed by Bandler and Kohout [Semantics of implication...

Residuated fuzzy logic calculi are related to continuous t-norms, which are used as truth functions for conjunction, and their residua as truth functions for implication. In these logics, a negation is also definable from the implication and the truth constant 0, namely ¬φ isφ → 0. However, this negation behaves quite differently depending on the t-norm. For a nilpotent t-norm (a t-norm which i...

We propose to replace Zadeh's DeMorgan-type negation in fuzzy logic by a Heyting-type negation which, unlike the former, preserves the law of the excluded contradiction and is more in line with negation in databases and logic programs. We show that the resulting system can be used for obtaining conservative extensions of relational and deductive databases (resp. normal logic programs).

Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets Theory is based on a wrong nominalistic (terminological) assumption. It is defined as “intuitionistic” a negation which does not satisfy usual properties of the intuitionistic Brouwer negation, but it is called with this term only a particular generalized notion of negation which indeed corresponds to the de Morgan negation. This metatheoretical assumption is criticize...

In many practical situations, we only know the bounds on the distances. A natural question is: knowing these bounds, can we check whether there exists a metric whose distance always lie within these bounds – or such a metric is not possible and thus, the bounds are inconsistent. In this paper, we provide an answer to this question. We also describe possible applications of this result to a desc...

Ontology consistency has been shown to be undecidable for a wide variety of fairly inexpressive fuzzy Description Logics (DLs). In particular, for any t-norm “starting with” the Lukasiewicz t-norm, consistency of crisp ontologies (w.r.t. witnessed models) is undecidable in any fuzzy DL with conjunction, existential restrictions, and (residual) negation. In this paper we show that for any t-norm...
