1. The activities of microsome fractions from the liver of adult and 5-day-old rats for the incorporation of [(14)C]phenylalanine into protein were similar in the presence and absence of polyuridylic acid. 2. The activity of a light-microsome fraction from adult liver was greater than that of a heavy-microsome fraction, and the light-microsome fraction was also more markedly stimulated by the p...

ultrasonic-assisted method was applied for preparation of cu+2-doped zns nanoparticles (mole fractions of cu+2 ions are 0.000, 0.015, 0.030 and 0.060) in water as a template-free and green method at 30 min. the prepared nanoparticles were investigated by powder x-ray diffraction (xrd), scanning electron microscopy (sem), energy dispersive x-ray (edx) and uv–vis diffuse reflectance spectra (drs)...

Energy and nutrient digestibility of solvent-extracted canola meal (CM) is limited in pigs by its relatively high fiber content. The seed hull, which greatly contributes to the fiber content of CM, is denser than the oil-free cotyledon. By utilizing streams of air, air classification partially separates these seed components on the basis of their different sizes and densities to produce a low-f...

Chromatophore material from the bacterium Rhodopseudomonas spheroides was freed of ribosomes by centrifugation in 27 per cent RbCl and then separated into "heavy" and "light" fractions by centrifugation through a sucrose gradient. The fractions differed from one another in the following ways. (a) The isopycnic density of the heavy fraction was between 1.15 and 1.18 gm/ml and that of the light f...

Here we examine Dodgson's Method, a fraction-free methods for computing determinants. In some cases, this method fails due to division by zero. We propose a workaround for Dodgson's Method that ensures it also can be used to compute the determinant of any integer matrix.

Changes in the contents of polyamines (PAs) in tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Wisconsin 38) grown under 16 h photoperiod were correlated with arginine and ornithine decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.19 and EC 4.1.1.17) and diamine oxidase (EC 1.4.3.6) activities. The maximum of free and soluble conjugated forms of PAs occurred 1-2 h after the middle of the light period and was followed by two d...

Optical properties of InxGa1-xN alloy and In0.5Ga0.5N/GaN multi quantum wells have been investigated in the region of far infrared. Far-IR reflectivity spectra of In0.5Ga0.5N/GaN multi quantum wells on GaAs substrate have been obtained by oblique incidence p- and s-polarization light using effective medium approximation. The spectra and the dielectric functions response give a good informa...

Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) depletion suppressed the oxygen-evolving activity of Synechocystis PCC6803 pgsA mutant cells. Shortage of PG led to decreased photosynthetic activity, which, similar to the effect of high light exposure, is likely to generate the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) or free radicals. Protection of the PG-depleted cells against light-induced damage increased the ...
