in this paper, a new propagation model based on utd for multiple diffraction paths in cellular mobile radio communications in urban environments is proposed. moreover, the most rigorous novel utd-based expressions for multiple diffractions by buildings and excess path losses are d - rived and analyzed. for this purpose, building rows are supposed to have rectangular cross-sections with the same...
RF channel measurements in underground mines have important applications in the field of mobile communications for improving operational efficiency and worker safety. This paper presents an experimental study of the ultra wideband (UWB) radio channel, based on extensive sounding campaigns covering the underground mine environment. Measurements were carried out in the frequency band of 2–5 GHz. ...
This paper presents an experimental characterization of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) channels in the 6.5 GHz, 10.5 GHz, 15 GHz, 19 GHz, 28 GHz and 38 GHz frequency bands in an indoor corridor environment. More than 4,000 power delay profiles were measured across the bands using an omnidirectional transmitter antenna and a highly directional horn receiver antenna for both co- and cross-polarized an...
This paper summarizes our 2x2 Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) fixed wireless outdoor propagation measurements at 2.48GHz conducted in the suburban residential areas of San Jose, California. We report on various channel characteristics such as path loss, Ricean K-factor, Cross-Polarization-Discrimination (XPD) and channel capacity. We present simple models for these characteristics, focusi...
One channel model that characterises multipath fading efiFect of a wireless channel is called Flat Rayleigh Fading channel model. Given the properties of Flat Rayleigh Fading channel, an equation to find the capacity of a Flat Rayleigh fading channel with hard decision decoding is derived. The difference of power requirement to achieve the Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) capacity over a Fl...
Abstrac -This paper presents comprehensive experimental results obtained from narrowband and wideband radio channel measurements in an underground mine with narrow veins at 2.4 GHz. From CW measurement data, large-scale distance-power curves and path-loss exponents of the environment are determined. Other relevant parameters such as, mean excess delay, maximum excess delay and rms delay spread ...
In this paper, we parameterize an excess loss-based multipath component (MPC) cross-polarization ratio (XPR) model in indoor and outdoor environments for above-6 GHz frequency bands. The results are based on 28 measurement campaigns in several frequency bands ranging from 15 to 80 GHz. A conventional XPR model of an MPC assuming a constant mean value fits our measurements very poorly and moreov...
This paper presents a ray tracing technique to predict path loss and delay spread in buildings. A computer program to predict radio propagation in buildings based on site-specific information such as wall locations and building materials is described. Using geometrical optics-based assumptions, rays are traced in three dimensions from a transmitter location. Line-of-sight, specularly transmitte...
We analyze the distribution of the number of claims and the aggregate claim sizes in an excess-of-loss reinsurance contract based upon the use of point processes. We first deal with a single excess-of-loss situation with an extra upper bound on the coverage of individual claims. Subsequently the results are extended to a reinsurance chain with k partners.
