Objectives: To assess the feasibility and effectiveness of transperitoneal laparoscopic pyeloplasty in the treatment of ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Laparoscopic pyeloplasty has been shown to have a success rate comparable to that of the open surgical approach. We report the results of our first 15 cases of transperitoneal dismembered pyeloplasty. Patients and methods: From August 2006 t...
BACKGROUND Anderson-Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty is the gold standard therapeutic approach to ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Use of a drainage method to protect the suture line from leakage is a matter of controversy. OBJECTIVES We have compared the surgical outcome of Anderson-Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty for UPJO repair, with or without internal stenting. PATIENTS AND METHOD...
conclusions pyeloplasty, with adequate spatulation, hemostasis and a watertight anastomosis, represents the mainstay of successful pyeloplasty and there may be no significant benefit for urethral stenting, especially in non-complicated cases. background anderson-hynes dismembered pyeloplasty is the gold standard therapeutic approach to ureteropelvic junction obstruction (upjo). use of a drainag...
BACKGROUND Hydronephrosis in children is a common congenital urologic problem with pelviureteric junction obstruction being its most common cause. This study was conducted to evaluate the outcome of pyeloplasty for congenital pelviureteric junction obstruction in children. METHODS This study was conducted in department of Paediatric Surgery, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College/Bahawal Victoria Hospi...
We report our experience performing a robot-assisted dismembered pyeloplasty on a patient with a ureteropelvic junction obstruction in a horseshoe kidney and a prior history of endopyelotomy. We provide 18-month follow-up demonstrating that robotic pyeloplasty is a reasonable second treatment option for patients with horseshoe kidneys with failed prior endourological management.
Both antegrade stenting and retrograde stenting for retroperitoneal laparoscopic dismembered pyeloplasty in children have many disadvantages. In this work, we tried using an alternative technique of modified antegrade (MAG) double-J stenting for retroperitoneal laparoscopic dismembered pyeloplasty in children under 5 years old, analyzed our results using the conventional antegrade (CAG) and the...
Laparoscopic pyeloplasty (LP) for ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) is one of the most appropriate surgical techniques to achieve the optimal goal of minimally invasive surgery. However, urologists hesitate to use the laparoscopic approach in UPJO with solitary kidney or intrarenal pelvis. There are a few published studies on laparoscopic pyeloplasty cases in intrarenal pelvis. However,...
PURPOSE In spite of advances in minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, open dismembered pyeloplasty continues to be used in many pediatric centers, especially in small children. The purpose of this work is to present our experience in the performance of this technique using a minimally invasive open pyeloplasty without intrarenal stents. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective review was made of...
uretero pelvic junction (upj) obstruction is a common cause of hydronephrosis in infants. the frequent use of fetal ultrasound is allowing early (prenatal) diagnosis of numerous uropathies previously delayed until the child either became symptomatic or had a palpable mass. newborn with severe obstruction often has marked improvement following correction, therefore, early diagnosis and operation...
