objectives : the aim of this in-vitro experimental study was to assess the effect of application of a desensitizing varnish on the enamel and dentin marginal seal. materials and methods: seventy-two freshly extracted, intact human premolar teeth were divided into four groups (n=18). class v cavities (3mm in length, 2mm in width and 2mm in depth) were prepared on the buccal surface of each tooth...

Contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) were measured in the foveal region while subjects simultaneously performed an instantaneous judgment task, which was designed to maintain their attended areas at a constant size. Spatial attention was sustained over areas that were either narrow (Narrow condition) or broad (Broad condition). We observed that the sensitivity at higher frequencies (over 3 cpd...

introduction: to investigate the ultrastructural changes of dentin irradiated with 980-nm diode laser under different parameters and to observe the morphological alterations of odontoblasts and pulp tissue to determine the safety parameters of 980-nm diode laser in the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity (dh). methods: twenty extracted human third molars were selected to prepare dentin discs. ...

Contrast sensitivity functions to vertical sinusoidal gratings have been measured in 135 subjects ranging from 3 to 29 years of age. The reported contrast sensitivities for all spatial frequencies increased steadily with age, reaching adult levels during adolescence. The usefulness of these functions as a clinical test is discussed.

Contrast sensitivity at different positions in the visual field has been measured at various spatial frequencies using a patch of gratin, 0 suitabij tignetted to give a st!mulus localized in both space and spatial frequent\. While contrast sensitivitl along a vertical line through the fixation point f4is ofl’ steadily from a maximum at the crntre. sensitivity along a horizontal line displaced 1...

Contrast sensitivity has been measured as a function of the eccentricity along several meridians. The measurements were carried out with a two-dimensional sinusoidal grating (cross grating) presented in a surround with a luminance equal to the average stimulus luminance. The advantage of this stimulus over a one-dimensional grating is that it permits presentation of small-sized stimuli. in a su...

introdouction: dentinal hypersensitivity (dh) is one of the most painful chronic problems reported in dental offices. various methods have been applied for the treatment of dh. however, majority of them are either ineffective or last for a short period of time. it has been reported that lasers, particularly neodymium- doped: yttrium aluminum garnet laser (nd: yag), can be helpful in the treatme...

This is an update on the present integrated knowledge regarding dentine permeability that assumed a role in dentine sensitivity and contribute clinically to the effective bonding properties of restorative dental materials. This paper will attempt to refer to in vivo and in vitro studies of dentine permeability and the various interrelated factors governing it.

Consumers are increasingly interested in finding more ecological alternatives to various products. This trend is becoming more common in the market for toothpaste as well. The ROCS Bionica Sensitive® toothpaste is a fluoride-free product containing natural ingredients, which reduces dentine hypersensitivity and offers an ecological alternative in oral health promotion. The purpose of the study ...
