Objective(s): This study was designed to assess defect detectability in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of abdominal lesions. Methods: A National Electrical Manufactures Association International Electrotechnical Commission phantom was used. The simulated abdominal lesion was scanned for 10 min using dynamic list-mode acquisition method. Images, acquired with scan duration of 1-10 mi...

It is expected that both noise and activity distribution can have impact on the detectability of a myocardial defect in a cardiac PET study. In this work, we performed phantom studies to investigate the detectability of a defect in the myocardium for different noise levels and activity distributions. We evaluated the performance of three reconstruction schemes: Filtered Back-Projection (FBP), O...

Objective(s): Use of a positron emission tomography (PET)/single-photonemission computed tomography (SPECT) system facilitates the simultaneousacquisition of images with fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) andtechnetium (99mTc)-tetrofosmin. However, 18F has a short half-life, and 511keV Compton-scattered photons are detected in the 99mTc energy window. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to ...

UNLABELLED Attenuation, photon scatter, and distance-dependent collimator-detector response are major degrading factors in myocardial SPECT images. The current study investigated whether compensation for these factors improves perfusion defect detectability, and compared the results for human observers with a previous study using a mathematical observer. METHODS Four methods were investigated...

This paper presents a new technique for detecting resistive open defects in FPGAs. This technique is based on the reconfigurability feature of FPGAs. Using this technique, the detectability of a defect can be improved by several orders of magnitude. Also, a method is developed to scale the detectability. Simulation results show the effectiveness of this method.

In this paper, we model the relation between testing e ort, coverage and reliability. We present a logarithmic model that relates testing e ort to test coverage (block, branch, c-use or p-use). The model is based on the hypothesis that the enumerables (like branches or blocks) for any coverage measure have di erent detectability, just like defects have di erent detectability. This model allows ...
