Background Developmental problems in children can be alleviated to a great extent with early detection and intervention through periodic screening for developmental delays during pre-school ages. Currently, there is no established system for developmental screening of children in Sri Lanka. Although some developmental norms, which are similar to those of Denver Developmental Screening Test-II (...

Objective To identify the usefulness of both the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, 3rd edition (Bayley-III) and Denver Developmental Screening Test II (DDST-II) in preterm babies with neurodevelopmental impairment, considering the detection rate as regulation of criteria. Methods Retrospective medical chart reviews which included the Bayley-III and DDST-II, were conducted for 6...

The increase in the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is a well known but not sufficiently addressed problem with data-dependent superimposed training (DDST) based approaches for channel estimation and synchronization in digital communication links. In this article, we concentrate on the PAPR analysis with DDST and on the spectral regrowth with a nonlinear amplifier. In addition, a novel Gauss...

OBJECTIVE This study is to define the statistical significance for detection of ESBL producers by the double disk synergy test and molecular test (Check-MDR CT102), microdilution test (VITEK 2 with AES) and double disk synergy test (DDST), as well as the microdilution test and molecular test. MATERIALS AND METHODS Phenotypic testing of 55 isolates Enterobacteriaceae (Escherichia coli (14/55),...

The prevalence of class D extended-spectrum oxacillinases (ES-OXAs) in ceftazidime-resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is often underestimated by double-disk synergy tests (DDST) using clavulanate. A DDST with a customized distance between a disk of ceftazidime or cefepime and inhibitors (clavulanate and imipenem) detected 14 out of 15 different ES-OXAs.

BACKGROUND Resistance to contemporary broad-spectrum beta-lactams, mediated by extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL), is an increasing problem worldwide. Many of the emerging antimicrobial resistance problems of this decade have been characterized by difficulty in the recognition of resistance in the laboratory, particularly by rapid susceptibility test methods. The plasmid-encoded ESBL repr...

We describe our five year experience of conducting developmental evaluation clinic at CDC. We have also assessed the prevalence of developmental delay (defined as delay in any two areas in Denver Development Screening Test II [DDST II]), documented the possible prenatal, natal, postnatal risk factors for developmental delay and, also identified the pattern of developmental disorders. A total of...
