The Flash crowds are rapid increase in access to contents of web sites, which makes the web sites inaccessible, leaving the clients with unsatisfied requests. The major shortcoming of flash crowds researches is that they do not assist vital resizing feature of a cloud of the surrogates; the surrogates involved in the alleviation process do not change from the start to the end of flash crowds. Can Crowds serve as useful allies in policy design? How do non-expert Crowds perform relative to experts in the assessment of policy measures? Does the geographic location of non-expert Crowds, with relevance to the policy context, alter the performance of nonexperts Crowds in the assessment of policy measures? In this work, we investigate these questions by undertaking experiments designed to ...
This paper presents some aspects to provide interaction with virtual human crowds. We describe some interaction paradigms present in ViCrowd, a system to model and generate virtual crowds with various degrees of autonomy. In addition, a Client/Server architecture is discussed in order to provide interface to guide and communicate with virtual crowds.
One advantage of crowds over traditional teams is that crowds enable the assembling of a large number of individuals to address problems. The literature is unclear, however, about the relationship between the size of crowds and its impact on outcomes. To better understand the effects of crowd size we conducted a study on the retention and performance based on 4,317 articles in the WikiProject F...
Real-time shadowed crowds, especially under locally lit environments, pose several distinct challenges. Current solutions for crowds are either very simplistic for multiple lights or only handle a single directional light with shadows. This work focuses on bringing hundreds of local lights with high fidelity shadows for crowds into the real-time domain. Each light is given the ability to cast s...
The literature on the wisdom of crowds argues that in most situations, the aggregated judgments of a large crowd perform well relative to the average individual. There are, however, many real-world cases where crowds perform poorly. A small crowd literature has since developed, finding that better performing small crowds often exist within whole crowds. We compare previously proposed small crow...
