This paper presents the directed sedimentation of suspension particles in a thin layer of liquid ( 1 mm) onto a featureless glass substrate by Marangoni flows. A programmable 16 × 8 array of surface mount resistors suspended 0.1–2 mm above the liquid provides dynamic millimeter-sized heat sources to locally heat the liquid surface to temperatures from approximately 28.5 to 36.5 ◦C. The heaters ...

Hypothesis Silica nanoparticles can be dispersed in organic solvents (organosols) using surfactants, such as didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB). DDAB analogues prepared with lathanide tetrahalide counterions, either a high-magnetic moment ion (HoCl3Br, DDAH) or low-magnetic moment one (NdCl3Br, DDAN), are expected to produce charged particles but only DDAH-stabilized dispersions are expec...

Analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) is a versatile and powerful method for the quantitative analysis of macromolecules in solution. AUC has broad applications for the study of biomacromolecules in a wide range of solvents and over a wide range of solute concentrations. Three optical systems are available for the analytical ultracentrifuge (absorbance, interference, and fluorescence) that permi...

This article is dedicated to the role of L.V. Pustovalov in creating theoretical foundations sedimentary research Russia, including determination and substantiation most important regularities governing processes their stages. The constituting stages processes, such as weathering, transport, deposition, were identified described. These lead differentiation material formation rocks different com...

the transfer and sedimentation in storage dams reduce the volume and damage the life of water reservoirs. due to the importance of water, its storage, and the cost time of constructing reservoirs, especially the scarcity of construncting sites for them, a lot of attentions should be given to the sedimentation of dam reservoirs. it requires the estimate of thew sedimentation and its management. ...

Zeta sedimentation ratio (ZSR) is a simple, rapid and reproducible test which is not influenced by variables like sex and anemia. There is good correlation with Westergren erythrocyte sedimentation ratio (ESR) in normal and hospital population. Limitation of packing force affects the use of the procedure in polycythemia and in patients with ZSR greater than 80%.
