abstractthe valves of right horn of systemic venous sinus are prominent structures within the right atrium during early embryonic period. involution of these structures may not be complete, resulting in a spectrum of anatomical presentations such as cyanosis. a full-term male neonate referred to our hospital for precise evaluation of severe cyanosis on the first day of life. echocardiographic e...

The Chiari network is a net-like mobile structure, occasionally encountered near the entrance of the inferior vena cava in the right atrium. Due to its fenestration, the Chiari network does not cause flow obstruction of the blood. The Chiari network is usually an incidental finding with no further clinical consequences. We report an unusual presentation of a Chiari network, mimicking a right at...

The Chiari network is an embryological remnant found in the right atrium, mostly without any significant pathophysiological consequences. However, several cardiac associations are reported in the literature including supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. We present a case of a 96-year-old body donor with a stroke episode and intermittent atrial fibrillations. The dissection of the heart revealed t...

The Chiari network is described as a reticulated network of fibers connected to the Eustachian valve identified as the embryological remnant of the right valve of the sinus venosus. It is an incidental finding without any significant pathophysiological consequences. However, the presence of the Chiari network in the right atrium obliges the physician to differentiate from other right atrial pat...

Chiari network occurs due to incomplete resorption of right valve of sinus venosus. It is often noticed as fenestrated membranous structure or reticular network like structure in the valve of inferior vena cava and coronary sinus. The remnant of left venous valve is observed as trabeculae over the fossa ovalis. The incidence of Chiari network and the remnant of left venous valve were studied in...

The Chiari network is mobile, net-like structures occasionally seen in right atrium near the opening of inferior vena cava and coronary sinus. This is usually of no clinical significance and is often diagnosed incidentally. However, sometimes it may cause diagnostic confusion with right atrial pathologies, and may favour thromboembolism by causing flow obstruction. It may be associated with inf...

Chiari networks are present in the right atrium in a minority of the population and are usually of no clinical significance. On the other hand it may associate some pathological changes, as patent foramen ovale, intraatrial thrombus or atrial arrhythmias. We present the case of an asymptomatic young woman diagnosed with Chiari network during a routine echocardiography.

respectively. Electrocardiography (ECG) showed sinus rhythm with a normal axis. The chest X-ray was unremarkable. Two-dimensional (2D) and real-time 3-dimensional (3D) transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) revealed a very mobile (characterized by whip-like motion), thin, filamentous structure in the right atrium (Chiari network) prolapsing into right ventricle through the tricuspid orifice durin...

conclusions in our study, portal venous thrombosis was detected in the patient who died during the acute period only. a study including large numbers of budd-chiari-syndrome patients with behcet’s disease and portal venous thrombosis would be helpful to determine the prognostic significance of portal venous thrombosis in budd-chiari-syndrome patients with behcet’s disease. in addition, patients...
