Separating ethene (C2H4) from ethane (C2H6) is of paramount importance and difficulty. Here we show that C2H4 can be efficiently purified by trapping the inert C2H6 in a judiciously designed metal-organic framework. Under ambient conditions, passing a typical cracked gas mixture (15:1 C2H4/C2H6) through 1 litre of this C2H6 selective adsorbent directly produces 56 litres of C2H4 with 99.95%+ pu...

[1] We use a 3-D chemical transport model (the GEOS-Chem CTM) to evaluate a global emission inventory for ethane (C2H6), with a best estimate for the global source of 13 Tg yr , 8.0 Tg yr 1 from fossil fuel production, 2.6 Tg yr 1 from biofuel, and 2.4 Tg yr 1 from biomass burning. About 80% of the source is emitted in the Northern Hemisphere. The model generally provides a reasonable and unbia...

Aircraft observations of Asian outflow from the TRACE-P aircraft mission over the NW Pacific (March-April 2001) show large CH4 enhancements relative to background, as well as strong CH4-C2H6-CO correlations that provide signatures of regional sources. We apply a global chemical transport model simulation of the CH4-C2H6-CO system for the TRACE-P period to interpret these observations in terms o...

The reactive ion etching ofInP, InGaAs, and InAIAs in CClzF2/02 or C2R(/H2 discharges was investigated as a function of the plasma parameters pressure, power density, flow rate, and relative composition. The etch rates of these materials are a factor of 3-5 X faster in CC12F 2/0 2 (-600--1000 AminJ ) compared to CzHJH2 (160-320 AminI ). Significantly smoother morphologies are obtained with C2H6...

We present the results of total column measurements of CO, C2H6 and fine-mode aerosol optical depth (AOD) during the “Quantifying the impact of BOReal forest fires on Tropospheric oxidants over the Atlantic using Aircraft and Satellites” (BORTAS-B) campaign over eastern Canada. Ground-based observations, using Fourier transform spectrometers (FTSs) and sun photometers, were carried out in July ...

The doublet and quartet potential energy surfaces for the Ti++C2H6→TiC2H+4+H2 and Ti++C2H6→TiCH+2+CH4reactions are studied using density functional theory(DFT) with the B3LYP functional and ab initiocoupled cluster CCSD(T) methods with high quality basis sets. Structures have been optimized at the DFT level and the minima connected to each transition state (TS) by following the intrinsic reacti...

We have used fast time-resolved infrared spectroscopy to characterize a series of organometallic methane and ethane complexes in solution at room temperature: W(CO)5(CH4) and M(eta5-C5R5)(CO)2(L) [where M = Mn or Re, R = H or CH3 (Re only); and L = CH4 or C2H6]. In all cases, the methane complexes are found to be short-lived and significantly more reactive than the analogous n-heptane complexes...

Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is a reliable technique for detecting the presence of incipient fault conditions in oil immersed transformers. In this method the presence of certain key gases is monitored. The various analysis methods are : Rogers ratio, IEC ratio, Doernenburg, Duval triangle, key gas, artificial neural network (ANN) method. In this paper the various DGA methods are evaluated and ...

This study employed radio-frequency (RF) plasma for decomposing benzene (C6H6) gas, and examined both gaseous products and solid depositions after reaction. The reactants and products were analyzed mainly by using both an on-line Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer and a gas chromatography. The analyses for solid deposition included electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA)...
