congenital diaphragmatic hernia (cdh) is a rare anomaly with a reported incidence of 1 in 16,000 populations. it may be associated with herniation of stomach, intestinal loops, spleen, and kidney through a chest wall defect. we report a case of a 1 year old male child who presented with recurrent fever, occasional chills and rigor of 4 months duration. left kidney was non visualised on ultrasou...

A 40 year old asthmatic presented with acute respiratory distress. Chest radiograph appeared to show loops of bowel within the thorax and a diagnosis of spontaneous/effort rupture of the diaphragm was made. Emergency laparotomy revealed an intact diaphragm and chest drain was inserted relieving a tension pneumothorax.

introduction radiation exposures from diagnostic medical examinations are generally low and are almost always justified by the benefits of accurate diagnosis of possible disease conditions. therefore, entrance skin dose (esd), body organ dose (bod), and effective dose (ed) from adult patients undergoing routine thorax posterior-anterior (pa) and thorax right lateral (rlat) were estimated in uni...
Background: The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of constructing a fast thorax model suitable for simulating lung motion due to respiration using only one CT dataset. Materials and Methods: For each of six patients with different thorax sizes, two sets of CT images were obtained in single-breath-hold inhale and exhale stages in the supine position. The CT images were then ...
A 52 year old male presented with changes in bowel movements, and a mass was detected on digital rectal exam. Both CT and MRI revealed a large pelvic and gluteal mass filling the pelvic cavity displacing the adjacent pelvic structures. After surgical removal, pathology revealed solitary fibrous tumor; a rare neoplasm uncommonly discovered in the thorax, and even less commonly in extrapleural lo...

Diaphragmatic defects were identified in 11 of 130 golden lion tamarins. Seven of the cases were found at necropsy (52 tamarins) and 4 were diagnosed by radiography (78 tamarins). When screening radiography revealed a thoracic mass, a barium series was indicated and either demonstrated loops of bowel within the thorax or suggested liver displacement by the cranial location of the intestine. In ...
DESCRIPTION Diaphragmatic hernia of Morgagni is a congenital defect of the anterior diaphragm resulting in herniation of abdominal viscera into the thorax (3–4% of congenital diaphragmatic hernias). In adults, Morgagni’s hernia is usually asymptomatic and is diagnosed incidentially following chest x-ray. However, some present with respiratory or gastrointestinal problems such as cough, chest pa...
