Revision trabeculectomy is used to describe any surgical intervention subsequent to an existing trabeculectomy. Mostly, it is used to describe resurgery for failure of trabeculectomy, as defined by inadequate pressure control. Revision may also be performed for unsafe, uncomfortable or leaking blebs. To investigate the risk factors for failure of needling revision with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and to identify the correlation of outcomes of needling revision and the morphological features of dysfunctional filtration blebs using Moorfields bleb grading system. This retrospective, nonrandomized, comparative case-control study included 41 consecutive patients (41 eyes) who underwent 5-FU needling r...

We describe methods and outcomes of a technique for sutureless surgical revision of symptomatic corneal overhanging filtering blebs after trabeculectomy using mitomycin in 6 eyes in 6 patients. Separation of the bleb from the corneal surface was achieved by blunt or sharp dissection, as necessary, and the overhanging portion of the bleb was excised and a bandage contact lens was inserted. Outco...

BACKGROUND In patients with severe optic nerve damage, it is crucial to prevent the hypertensive phase that can develop after Baerveldt glaucoma drainage implant (BGI) surgery. We describe the combination of BGI surgery with surgical bleb revision to prevent the postoperative hypertensive phase. CASE REPORTS We report two patients who underwent BGI surgery combined with surgical bleb revision...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of intrableb autologous blood injection and diode laser bleb revision on cellular proliferation in filtration blebs of rabbits. METHODS Bilateral filtration surgery with mitomycin was performed on 19 white 2.5- to 3-kg New Zealand rabbits. Autologous blood injection (n = 9) or diode laser bleb revision (n = 10) was performed on blebs of right eyes (interven...

Epithelial ingrowth of the bleb cavity, a true Tenon cyst, is a rare complication of a glaucoma drainage implant. Previous cases have been associated with persistent bleb leak, and most have occurred in eyes with prior extraocular surgery. We describe a case of a true Tenon cyst causing strabismus and an elevated intraocular pressure that was successfully treated by surgical revision.

CASE PRESENTATION A man with hypotony related to bleb's leakage in his right eye was presented. During his childhood trabeculectomy was performed to manage ocular hypertension due to pediatric glaucoma. Biomicroscopy revealed chor...
