Improvement of current biomechanical models through implementation of a dynamic factor may provide greater accuracy in acquiring more realistic calculations of back compressive force (BCF) in the spine during lifting. Most widely used biomechanical models for job evaluations in industry are simplified and considered " static " models. These models neglect additional forces generated by accelera...

The effect of bromochlorodifluoromethane (BCF) on reproduction in the rat has been investigated in two studies. Pregnant female rats were exposed by inhalation to 1000, 10,000, or 50,000 ppm BCF for six hours a day on days six to 15 of gestation (day of mating = day 0). Exposure to 50,000 ppm BCF caused a reduction in maternal weight gain over the exposure period but there was no evidence of ei...

Blood cell flux (BCF) in the pelvic skin of Bufo marinus was lower than Bufo alvarius when toads rehydrated from deionised water (DI) or 50 mmol l-1 NaCl (NaCl). Despite the lower BCF in B. marinus, water absorption was not different between the species when toads rehydrated from DI or NaCl. When fluid contact was limited to the pelvic skin, water uptake from NaCl was lower than from DI, but be...

Fractions of porcine cerebral cortex extract separated by molecular weight on a Sephadex G-75 column were tested for their activities and potencies to inhibit [3H]benzodiazepine binding to rat brain homogenates. The fractions spanned molecular weights from 500 to 100,000. A potent inhibitor (benzodiazepine-competitive factor I, BCF-I) was discovered in the fraction containing substances with mo...

In this paper we explore the connection between semi-classical and quantum Birkhoff canonical forms (BCF) for Schrödinger operators. In particular we give a ”non-symbolic” operator theoretic derivation of the quantum Birkhoff canonical form and provide an explicit recipe for expressing the quantum BCF in terms of the semi-classical BCF.

The Burton–Cabrera–Frank (BCF) theory of step flow has been recognized as a valuable tool for describing nanoscale evolution of crystal surfaces. We formally derive a single-step BCF-type model from an atomistic, kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) model of a crystal surface in 1+1 dimensions without external material deposition. Through an averaging procedure, consistent with Boltzmann statistics, we in...

Shape representation is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Current approaches to shape representation mainly focus on designing low-level shape descriptors which are robust to rotation, scaling and deformation of shapes. In this paper, we focus on mid-level modeling of shape representation. We develop a new shape representation called Bag of Contour Fragments (BCF) inspired by classical ...

Automatic voice/music segment detection is expected for various applications. For the general applications of voice recognition and dictation, input voice for the recognition is needed to detect and remove music section automatically. In order to detect voice and music segments, where sound data contains both voice and music, this paper proposes weighted Block Cepstrum Flux (BCF) and optimizes ...
