background:  aeromonas spp. can cause diarrhea and various infections in humans. access to rapid techniques with a high sensitivity and specificity is strongly needed for the identification of aeromonas species. the aim of this study was to evaluate two different methods including api 20e bacterial identification tests and the molecular detection using pcr primers specific for 16s-rrna and 23s-...

introduction acetic acid bacteria are large group of obligate aerobic gram negative bacteria with the ability to oxidize ethanol to acetic acid (1). they are widely distributed in natural habitats and classified in family acetobacteraceae. members of this family are useful in industrial production of vinegar(2). acetic acid bacteria (aab) can use substrates as glucose, ethanol, lactate or glyc...

conclusions although carbohydrate fermentation patterns specified these three isolates as b. infantis, b. bifidum, and b. longum, the molecular results did not confirm b. longum, which is still also controversial in the literature. overall, our results demonstrated that kashk-e zard is a rich potential source of probiotic bacteria and further investigations should be undertaken. results twelve ...

heamophilus influenzae type-b (hib) is a gram - negative pleomorphic bacterium that causes meningitis infections in children with the age of less than 5 years particularly in two years old infants. in the present study various isolates of heamophilus influenzae from infants suspected to meningitis were collected, identified, characterized and were used throughout our experiments. different cult...

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are known to influence plant growth by various director indirect mechanisms. Thirty–two strains were isolated from 15 soils sampled in central Iran, byusing and comparing three different methods. The screening of soil samples by means of soil paste–plate method combined with isolation on mannitol agar proved to be the best strategy in terms ofreliabil...

Rapid bacterial identification (ID) and antimicrobial susceptibility tests (AST) can have a significant impact on the management of infections, especially those caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria (1, 2, 5). However, these rapid automated methods do not overcome the need for the preparation of a suspension of the organism at a fixed density (0.5 to 0.6 McFarland standard [MF]; 1.5 10 CFU/ml...

A study was conducted to compare the API Rapid 20E 4-h system (API System S.A., France; commercially available in the U.S.A. under the name DMS Rapid E System; DMS Laboratories, Darts Mill, Flemington, N.J.), the API 20E 18- to 24-h system (Analytab Products, Plainview, N.Y.), and a conventional media system to measure the ability of each to identify members of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Co...

Phyllosphere microbial communities are highly diverse and have important ecological implications; in that context, bacterial identification based on 16S rRNA genes is an important research issue. In studies of phyllosphere microbial communities, microporous filtration and centrifugation are used to collect microorganism samples, but it is unclear which one has a better collection efficiency. In...

We evaluated a broad-based PCR assay coupled with high-resolution melt analysis for rapid bacterial identification in patients with bacterial sepsis. With a reference library of 60 clinically relevant bacterial species, 52 positive blood culture samples were tested. Our assay identified 46/52 samples at the species level, with 100% concordance to culture findings.
