In the present study, age, growth and reproduction of Carassius auratus were investigated in the Alma-Gol and Ala-Gol (northern Iran) from September 2000 to August 2002. Among the total of 1450 specimens, the estimated ages ranged from 0+ to 8+ years. C. auratus showed an allometric growth, negatively in Alma-Gol and positively in Ala-Gol. The von Bertalanffy growth curves were fitted to mean t...

this study investigated the relationships between nutrients and chlorophyll, a concentration in the international alma gol wetland. chlorophyll a is the major photosynthetic pigment in lots of phytoplanktons and has been used as a trophy index in aquatic ecosystems. water samples were collected fortnightly from five stations in the wetland during summer and autumn. chlorophyll-a ranged between ...

The paper reviews recent experimental results from GOL-3. Currently efforts are focused on further development of a physical database for multiple-mirror confinement systems and also on an upgrade of plasma heating systems of GOL-3 device. In general, current GOL-3 parameters demonstrate good prospects of a multiple-mirror trap as a fusion reactor.

The Escherichia coli lit gene product is required for the multiplication of bacteriophage T4 at temperatures below 34 degrees C. After infection of a lit mutant host, early gene product synthesis is normal, as is T4 DNA replication; however, the late gene products never appear, and early gene product synthesis eventually ceases. Consequently, at late times, there is no protein synthesis of any ...

Glucose oxidase, covalently coupled to polystyrene microspheres (GOL), produced H(2)0(2) at an average rate of 3.6 nmol/min per 10(9) beads under standard assay conditions. Injection of 1.3 x 10(10) to 1.1 x 10(11) GOL i.p. prolonged the survival of mice by 27 percent after injection of 10(6) P388 lymphoma cells in the same site, consistent with destruction of 97.6 percent of the tumor cells. P...

Recent studies have examined the influence on patterns of human genetic variation of a variety of cultural practices. In India, centuries-old marriage customs have introduced extensive social structuring into the contemporary population, potentially with significant consequences for genetic variation. Social stratification in India is evident as social classes that are defined by endogamous gro...

Abstract. Conway’s Game of Life (GoL) rules can be applied to Cellular Automata (CAs) running on aperiodic grids, namely Penrose tilings. Here we investigate the result of running such CAs from random initial conditions. We describe our experimental setup, and demonstrate that the GoL on the Penrose kite and dart tiling has significantly different statistical behaviour from that on the Penrose ...

The General Ontological Language (GOL) is a formal framework for representing and building ontologies. The purpose of GOL is to provide a system of toplevel ontologies which can be used as a basis for constructing domain-specific ontologies. The present paper gives an overview about the basic categories and the principles of GOL. GOL is part of the work of the Ontologies in Medicine (Onto-Med) ...
