Streptomyces azureus ATCC 14921 belongs to the Streptomyces cyaneus cluster and is known to be a thiostrepton producer. Here, we report a draft genome sequence for this strain, consisting of 350 contigs containing a total of 8,790,525 bp, 8,164 predicted coding sequences, and a G+C content of 70.9%.

mycotic infections have been commonly encountered in patients with hematological malignancies. the current study seeks the prevalence of actinomycete infection in patients suffering from blood cells malignancies. a hundred and fifty patients with some kinds of blood cells dyscrasia who underwent the bone marrow aspiration were recruited. in addition to the diagnostic work up, samples were exami...

background and purpose: actinomycetes have been discovered as source of antifungal compounds that are currently in clinical use. invasive aspergillosis (ia) due to aspergillus fumigatus has been identified as individual drug-resistant aspergillus spp. to be an emerging pathogen opportunities a global scale. this paper described the antifungal activity of one terrestrial actinomycete against the...

background and objective: pigment production by microorganisms is important due to more rapid growth, higher efficiency, easier extraction, and antimicrobial effects compared to other methods. the aim of the present study is to isolate and identify antibiotic pigment-producing actinomycetes from the soil of the persian gulf and to evaluate the antibiotic activity of their pigments in the second...

Soil microbial communities are believed to be comprised of thousands of different bacterial species. One prevailing idea is that "everything is everywhere, and the environment selects," implying that all types of bacteria are present in all environments where their growth requirements are met. We tested this hypothesis using actinomycete communities and type II polyketide synthase (PKS) genes f...

We reassess the coevolution between actinomycete bacteria and fungus-gardening (attine) ants. Actinomycete bacteria are of special interest because they are metabolic mutualists of diverse organisms (e.g., in nitrogen-fixation or antibiotic production) and because Pseudonocardia actinomycetes are thought to serve disease-suppressing functions in attine gardens. Phylogenetic information from cul...

Abstract Background and Objective: Dermatophytes are the fungi that have the ability to attack the keratinized tissues such as the skin, hair and nails. Infections caused by these organisms are named dermatophytosis. We aimed to compare Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Crude extracts of Active Actinomycete Isolates with Terbinafine, Griseofulvin, Ketoconazole and Fluconazole Drugs ...
