Heterocyclic systems are one of the most important classes of organic compounds present in nature or synthesized in laboratory. These compounds posses an array of biological activities and are employed in the treatment of commonly occurring diseases. Keeping this in view, some new 2-amino-4,6-diarylpyrimidine from chalcones were synthesized. Eight novel 2-amino-4,6-diarylpyrimidine derivatives ...

Novel pyrimidines were prepared by the condensation of chalcones of 4'-piperazine acetophenone with guanidine HCl. The structures of the synthesized compounds RP 1-5 were assigned on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR and mass spectroscopy. These compounds were also screened for anti-histaminic activity. The recorded percentage of histamine inhibition showed a significant anti-histam...

Anionic platinum carbonyl cluster has been ion paired with cinchonidium groups that are chemically bound to the surface of MCM-41 and fumed silica. In the hydrogenation of methyl pyruvate or acetophenone the fumed silica-based catalyst gives zero enantioselectivity, but under optimum conditions enantiomeric excesses of > 90 and ∼ 40%, respectively, are obtained with the MCM-41-based catalyst.

Anaerobic ethylbenzene metabolism in the betaproteobacterium Aromatoleum aromaticum is initiated by anaerobic oxidation to acetophenone via (S)-1-phenylethanol. The subsequent carboxylation of acetophenone to benzoylacetate is catalyzed by an acetophenone-induced enzyme, which has been purified and studied. The same enzyme is involved in acetophenone metabolism in the absence of ethylbenzene. A...

The β-proteobacterium Aromatoleum aromaticum degrades the aromatic ketone acetophenone, a key intermediate of anaerobic ethylbenzene metabolism, either aerobically or anaerobically via a complex ATP-dependent acetophenone carboxylase and a benzoylacetate-CoA ligase. The genes coding for these enzymes (apcABCDE and bal) are organized in an apparent operon and are expressed in the presence of the...

Denitrifying strain EbN1 utilizes either ethylbenzene or toluene as the sole source of organic carbon under strictly anoxic conditions. When cells were grown on ethylbenzene, 1-phenylethanol and acetophenone were detected in the culture supernatant. However, these two compounds were not observed when cells were grown on benzoate. Growth on ethylbenzene, 1-phenylethanol, or acetophenone strictly...

This work describes the syntheses and antitumoral properties of five prenyl compounds from which antiproliferative activities were predicted by using the TOPS-MODE approach, a computational method for drug design. The syntheses of 2-(3-methylbut-2-enyloxy)acetophenone (2), 2-hydroxy-5-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)acetophenone (3), 2-hydroxy-3-(1,1-dimethylallyl)acetophenone (4), and 5-(3-methylbut-2-eny...

A mutant derivative of a novel pseudomonad isolated from the soil accumulated acetophenone when supplied with cinnamic acid. The microorganism has been identified as an unclassified Pseudomonas sp., similar to Pseudomonas acidovorans. Mass spectrum analysis of the product acetophenone derived from catabolism of cinnamic acid in the presence of O(2) or H(2)O supported the conclusion that cinnami...

BACKGROUND Contact dermatitis resulting from the use of shin pads is usually caused by rubber components, dyes, benzoyl peroxide, or formaldehyde resins. OBJECTIVES To investigate and identify a new allergen in shin pads that was responsible for severe contact dermatitis in a young football player. METHODS High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) of samples of shin pads was performed. ...

The piperazine derivatives have been shown to inhibit human acetylcholinesterase. Virtual screening by molecular docking of piperazine derivatives 1-(1,4-benzodioxane-2-carbonyl) piperazine (K), 4-(4-methyl)-benzenesulfonyl-1-(1,4-benzodioxane-2-carbonyl) piperazine (S1), and 4-(4-chloro)-benzenesulfonyl-1-(1,4-benzodioxane-2-carbonyl) piperazine (S3) has been shown to bind at peripheral anioni...
