We present, to the best of our knowledge, the first demonstration of a narrow linewidth, waveguide-based Brillouin laser that is enabled by large Brillouin gain of a chalcogenide chip. The waveguides are equipped with vertical tapers for low-loss coupling. Due to optical feedback for the Stokes wave, the lasing threshold is reduced to 360 mW, which is five times lower than the calculated single...

We demonstrate an ultra-compact and low-threshold thulium microcavity laser that is monolithically integrated on a silicon chip. The integrated microlaser consists of an active thulium-doped aluminum oxide microcavity beside a passive silicon nitride bus waveguide, which enables on-chip pump-input and laser-output coupling. We observe lasing in the wavelength range of 1.8-1.9 μm under 1.6 μm re...

In order to reveal the physical processes taking place within the ECR ion thruster “ μ10 ”, internal plasma diagnosis is indispensable. However, the ability of metallic probes to access microwave plasmas biased at a high voltage is limited from the standpoints of he disturbance created in the electric field and electrical isolation. This study demonstrates two kinds of plasma parameter measurem...

A discussion of three topics in the eld of non linear optics is presented We begin with the Colliding Pulse Mode locked CPM Quantum Well QW laser A large signal model consisting of a wave propagation equation for the electrical eld and a rate equation model for the material response is derived The wave propagation equation of the electrical eld is derived from Maxwell s equations in the slowly ...

We report the demonstration of the first silicon Raman laser. Experimentally, pulsed Raman laser emission at 1675 nm with 25 MHz repetition rate is demonstrated using a silicon waveguide as the gain medium. The laser has a clear threshold at 9 W peak pump pulse power and a slope efficiency of 8.5%.
