The present brief report describes four cases with mycobacterial infection and negative T-SPOT.TB tests. This test proved to be a useful tool to help rule out the diagnosis of active Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and could therefore prevent unnecessary or inappropriate therapy.

Here, we report the first draft genome sequence of the clinically relevant species Mycobacterium gordonae The clinical isolate Mycobacterium gordonae 14-8773 was obtained from the sputum of a patient with mycobacteriosis.

Mycobacterium chelonae is a rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterium and rare cause of cutaneous infection in both immunocompromised immunocompetent patients. The skin lesions are non-specific nature, so that the remains underdiagnosed diagnosis often delayed. Herein, we report case an 83-year-old woman with 6-month history persistent lesions. were previously misdiagnosed treated as herpes ...

In the advanced stages of mycobacterial infections, host immune systems tend to change from a Th1-type to Th2-type immune response, resulting in the abrogation of Th1 cell- and macrophage-mediated antimicrobial host protective immunity. Notably, this type of immune conversion is occasionally associated with the generation of certain types of suppressor macrophage populations. During the course ...

non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (ntm), as certain species of mycobacteria, can affect human in several ways. in the preceding years, the rate of ntm detection has risen in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients. on the other hand, several reports have debated the possibility of co-infection of both mycobcateriu tuberculosis (mtb) and ntm in individuals that puts the role of ntm in di...

Non-typhoid Salmonella and Mycobacterium avium complex infections are part of the constellation of infections seen with increasing frequency in patients with acquired immuned deficiency syndrome. The incidence has reduced significantly since highly active antiretroviral therapy era, but their critical nature is unchanged. The co-existence of these infections and the accompanied increased mortal...

Mycobacterium neoaurum is rapidly growing mycobacteria that can cause human infections. It commonly causes bloodstream infections in immunocompromised hosts, and unlike other mycobacteria species, it rarely causes pulmonary infections. We confirmed the first pulmonary infection case in Korea caused by M. neoaurum using full-length 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

BACKGROUND The tuberculosis and infections caused by nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) species are increasing in patients presented with respiratory illness, and it is crucial to document the epidemiology of these infections. OBJECTIVES To study the mycobacterial species and in vitro drug susceptibility trends of Mycobacterium tuberculosis found in the respiratory specimens. MATERIALS AND ...
