Technical advances now allow implants to be placed when pneumatization of the sinus has left insufficient bone to engage an endosseus implant. Augmenting material, such as a mixture of resorbable hydroxylapatite and demineralized freeze-dried bone, is grafted into the sinus cavity. This creates a new alveolar ridge to support endosseous implants.
Dendronized poly(amido amine)s (DPs) bearing tri-phosphate or bis-phosphonate peripheral groups are synthesized. These worm-like DPs can template the formation of BMSCs adhesive hydroxylapatite (HA) on the nano-scale, or self-assemble into mineral-collecting microfibers on the micro-scale, exhibiting similar functions of non-collagenous proteins (NCPs) in the natural biomineralization process o...
IMPORTANCE Acquired soft-tissue injury with resultant volume loss may cause significant deformity in size, shape, and body or facial contour. Current autologous fat transfer techniques have several limitations, including availability, donor site morbidity, and unpredictable rates of resorption. We present an extracellular matrix (ECM) biomaterial derived from human adipose tissue as an off-the-...
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To identify contemporary indications, treatment principles, technique, injection materials, complications, and success rates of vocal fold injection augmentation. STUDY DESIGN Multi-institutional retrospective review. METHODS Records of patients undergoing injection augmentation at seven university medical centers from July 2007 through June 2008 were reviewed for info...
Purpose: Active immunotherapy is a promising antitumoral strategy; however its use in combination with chemotherapy in dogs with large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remains largely untested. Heat shock proteins (HSP) bind the small peptides they chaperone (HSPPC), allowing for immunization of the host against a large repertoire of tumor-associated antigens. Hydroxylapatite vehicles HSPPCs and acts as...
