Viruses invade susceptible cells through a complex mechanism before injecting their genetic material into them. This causes direct damage to the host cell, as well resulting in disease corresponding system. Echovirus type 30 (E30) is member of Enterovirus B group and has recently been reported cause central nervous system (CNS) disorders, leading viral encephalitis meningitis children. In this ...

Since June 2010, incidence of aseptic meningitis has increased in Novi Sad, Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Serbia. From 2 June to 25 July 2010, 80 cases of aseptic meningitis were notified, with an incidence rate ranging from 10 to 366 per 100,000 population in different local communities. The majority of cases (n=64) were aged between two and 15 years. Echovirus 30 was cultured from two of ...

We detected enteroviral RNA and cultured infectious virus from a series of banked breast milk samples from the mother of an infant with neonatal sepsis; sequencing of the enterovirus isolate identified it as echovirus type 18. In this case, it is possible that enterovirus transmission occurred through the breast milk.

predomlnant Clinical manifestations Caused by HPEV 1 were infantile diarrhea and respiratory illness (3-7), but more serious symptoms such as myocarditis and encephalitis have also been reported (3). Reports on infections and the epidemiology of this virus, however, have been few, probably because infection with this virus is rare compared with other enteroviruses such as echoviruS 30 (8). In t...

A multiplex methodology using two nuclease-resistant molecular beacons that target specific genomic regions of adenovirus 2 and echovirus 17 during simultaneous infection in A549 cells is presented. Using fluorescence microscopy, visualization of enteroviral and adenoviral replication was possible within 3 h postinfection.

We describe a 39-year-old woman who had undergone bilateral lung and renal transplantation and who was admitted to the hospital with acute onset of flaccid paralysis of the left leg due to echovirus 19 infection. The patient was treated with pleconaril and intravenous immunoglobulin, which correlated with clinical and laboratory evidence of improvement.

Picornavirus infection requires virus uncoating, associated with the production of 135S "A" particles and 80S empty particles from 160S mature virions, to release the RNA genome into the cell cytoplasm. Normal albumin inhibits this process. We now show that when depleted of fatty acids, albumin induces the formation of echovirus A particles.

Human echovirus 20 (E-20) belongs to the Human enterovirus B (HEV-B) species and is often detected in nonpolio enterovirus cases of acute flaccid paralysis. We determined the complete genome of strain 812/YN/CHN/2010, isolated from a child with severe hand-foot-and-mouth disease in Yunnan, China, in 2010.

Nonpolio acute flaccid paralysis is increasing in India. To determine viral causes, we conducted cell culture and molecular analysis identification of nonpolio human enteroviruses associated with acute flaccid paralysis during March-August 2010 in northern India. The predominant nonpolio enterovirus found was echovirus 13, a serotype rarely isolated in India.
