The increased expression of NF‐κB associated with carcinogenesis resulted in cell proliferation and stop apoptosis,in bladder carcinogenesis induced by dibutylamine / sodium nitrate mediated by e-coli infection. This study was designed to evaluate the potential protective effect of curcum in rats administered nitrosamine precursors; dibutylamine (DBA) and sodium nitrate (NaNO3); and infec...
The combination of a catalytic amount of Cu(OTf)2 and less than a stoichiometric amount of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) under an O2 atmosphere effectively promoted the N-nitrosation of both secondary aromatic/aliphatic amines and tertiary aromatic amines with nitromethane (CH3NO2) leading to the preparation of N-nitrosamine derivatives.

The microsomal metabolism of the rat esophageal carcinogen N-nitrosomethylbenzylamine (NMBZA) at the methylene carbon atom to yield benzaldehyde was studied in various organs of a number of species to determine the role of metabolic activation in the carcinogenicity or toxicity of the nitrosamine. In the Sprague-Dawley rat, NMBZA was metabolized by microsomes from liver, lung, and esophageal mu...
Whereas the impact of tobacco specific nitrosamines in smokers is obscured by the presence of numerous other carcinogens and promoters, for smokeless tobacco virtually all the carcinogenic potential is associated with 4-(nitrosomethylamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) and N'-nitrosonornicotine (NNN). In some countries exposure to smokeless tobacco with extremely high nitrosamine concentratio...
Recent epidemiological studies have shown a positive association between cancer incidence and high intake of processed meats. N-nitrosamines (NAs) in these products have been suggested as one potential causative factor. Most NAs are classified as probable human carcinogens. Nitrite, a curing agent of meat products and is a precursor of carcinogenic, so one of the main research topics in meat in...
Dietary administration of 5% L-ascorbic acid plus 3% K2CO3 to male F344 rats clearly enhanced the development of preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions of the urinary bladder initiated with N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl)nitrosamine. Promotion of carcinogenesis by L-ascorbic acid and K2CO3 was associated with changes in urinary parameters: elevation of pH, increased K+ concentration, and increase in t...
Strong base anion-exchange resins represent an important option for water utilities and homeowners to address growing concerns with nitrate, arsenate, and perchlorate contamination of source waters. Most commercially available anion-exchange resins employ quaternary amine functional groups. Previous research has provided contradictory evidence regarding whether these resins serve as sources of ...
