Background Redox regulation system protects our body from oxidative stress-injury and keeps redox homeostasis. The hydrogen molecules (H2) exist as stable gas in the ordinal temperature and atmosphere. Recent study reports H2 improve ischemia-reperfusion injury, glaucoma, Parkinson’s disease and atherosclerosis of animal models. It is supposed from these improvement results that H2 participate ...

A series of bulk oxides (Sb2O3, Sb2O4, VSbO4, and V2O5) and alumina-supported oxides (Sb-O, V-O, and Sb-V-O) were synthesized by conventional methods. The resulting catalysts were characterized with XRD, BET, Raman, and CH3OH-temperature programmed surface reaction (TPSR) spectroscopy. XRD and Raman spectroscopy confirmed that the bulk oxides are present as crystalline phases and the alumina-su...

Context & Scale This review aims to bridge the fields of inorganic molecular chemistry, electrocatalysis, lithium-ion batteries, and chemical physics of oxides by introducing a unifying concept linking the electronic structures and electrochemical properties of transition metal oxides and complexes. In this work, by reviewing broad literature on the redox behavior of a number of Ni, Co, Fe, and...

The dynamic bistable rotational behaviour of a copper(I) coordination environment can be rationally tuned with balancing the substituent size on the rotor. Such rotors are sensitive to weak interactions, and the rotation was driven by a redox reaction on a ferrocenyl moiety via reconstruction of the charge interaction between redox centres.

A series of nickel complexes featuring redox-active macrocycles is reported for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. A remarkable structure-activity relationship is elucidated from the series through electrochemical studies and DFT calculations, wherein a fine electronic balance between metal and ligand redox chemistry dictates selectivity for CO2 reduction versus the competing proton reduction reac...

A new approach for enhancing the electrochemical performance of carbon felt electrodes by employing non-precious metal oxides is designed. The outstanding electro-catalytic activity and mechanical stability of Mn(3)O(4) are advantageous in facilitating the redox reaction of vanadium ions, leading to efficient operation of a vanadium redox flow battery.

The N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalysed redox amidation reaction is poorly developed and usually requires catalytic co-additives for electron-rich amine nucleophiles. We report a masking strategy (using CO2) that couples release of the free amine nucleophile to catalytic turnover, and in doing so, enables direct catalytic redox amidation of electron-rich amines.

Oxidation (off state) and reduction (on state) of a single azurin molecule is monitored, one electron at a time, which depend on the chemical redox potential. By analysing the fluorescence time traces from individual azurin molecules, reaction kinetics and redox thermodynamics were determined.

An experimental method for measurement of local redox potential within multilayer electrodes was developed and applied to all-vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs). Through-plane measurement at the positive side reveals several important phenomena including potential distribution, concentration distribution of active species and the predominant reaction location within the porous carbon electro...

Transduction of light dependent signals to redox sensitive kinases in photosynthetic membranes modulates energy transfer to the photochemical reaction centres and regulates biogenesis, stability and turnover of thylakoid protein complexes. The occupancy of the quinol-oxidation site of the cytochrome bf complex by plastoquinol and the redox state of protein thiol groups act as elements of the si...
