The study proposes to examine, by the experimental route, effect of roughness on hydraulic jump length in rectangular channel. A comparative between characteristics controlled a threshold with smooth and rough bottom is proposed. results this research can be applied load dissipation basins dams also irrigation lines, using ability projection raise water level downstream flow.

The performance of two popular hydraulic models (HEC-RAS and WSPG) for modeling hydraulic jump in an open channel is investigated. The numerical solutions are compared with a new experimental data set obtained for varying channel bottom slopes and flow rates. Both the models satisfactorily predict the flow depths and location of the jump. The end results indicate that the numerical models outpu...

Cell ‘trap and release’ in microfluidic devices is critical for on-chip concentration purposes and dynamic microarrays. However, most existing mechanical trapping modalities lack release capabilities and some employ very complex or abrasive trapping mechanisms. Here we describe a novel cell ‘trap and release’ device, which employs principles similar to the ‘hydraulic jump’ phenomenon in nature....

We present a new method to evaluate the hydraulic jump characteristics in horizontal rectangular channel with positive step. considered flow curvature effect and free surface’s small rise at A-type jump’s end. First, we novel give length estimation based on similarity of turbulent wall-jet, considering pressure gradient. Then, as curvilinear using one-dimensional momentum equation, an accurate ...

The first quantitative calculation of the position of the hydraulic jump was carried out a few years ago by Bohr et.al. Since this is the only calculation of the jump, we have analysed it from a slightly different point of view. Our results are similar to those of Bohr et.al.
