aeromonas hydrophila secretes several extracellular proteins including enterotoxin, hemolysin and aerolysin that are associated with the bacterial virulence. previous studies have shown that two hemolytic toxins, hemolysin a and aerolysin a contribute to the virulence of aeromonas hydrophila. in the current study, a total of 50 strains of aeromonas hydrophila, including 28 (56%) strains isolate...

Of 166 Bacteroides fragilis isolates, 26.2% of 103 isolates from blood and 20.6% of 63 extraintestinal isolates harbored the fragilysin gene (difference not statistically significant). Clinical characteristics and evolution were comparable in patients with B. fragilis bacteremia with or without this enterotoxin. Fragilysin seems not to be an important virulence factor in B. fragilis disease.

The in vitro exposure of staphylococcal enterotoxin B to trypsin resulted in the formation within 30 min of a product (enterotoxin-T) unchanged in molecular weight, but with threonine as a second NH2 terminus. Upon reduction of the -SSbridge in enterotoxin-T, two fragments were separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in sodium dodecyl sulfate. The peptide bond between Lys-97 and Thr-98 ...

Abstract Background and Objective: The main cause of spreading staphylococcal infections among patients is the healthy carriers working in hospitals. With the secretion of different sorts of toxins such as entrotoxin, this bacteria can provide the conditions for attacking on the host. The main objective of this study is identification of the characteristics and differences in the Staphylococc...

Glucose-grown cells of Bacillus cereus respond to anaerobiosis and low extracellular oxidoreduction potentials (ORP), notably by enhancing enterotoxin production. This response involves the ResDE two-component system. We searched the B. cereus genome for other redox response regulators potentially involved in this adaptive process, and we identified one gene encoding a protein predicted to have...

the aim of this study was to determine the occurrence of enterotoxigenic and enteroaggregative escherichia coli strains and antibiotic resistance of the isolates in raw milk and unpasteurized cheese. out of 200 samples of raw milk and 50 samples of unpasteurized cheeses, 96 and 24 strains of e. coli were isolated, respectively. polymerase chain reaction (pcr) was used to detect the genes encodi...

elaboration of different toxins by enterotoxigenic e. coli has been considered as one of the main virulence factors contributing to the manifestation of disease caused by these microorganisms. various strategies have been employed to raise antibodies against these toxins as a line of defense. in this study, the 3’ terminus of the gene that codes for the binding subunit of the heat-labile entero...

Heat-labile enterotoxin of Escherichia coli pathogenic for humans (LTh) or for piglets (LTp) and Vibrio cholerae enterotoxin (CT) are structurally and functionally similar toxins. We have determined the complete nucleotide sequence of the toxA gene which encodes the subunit A of LTh (LTh A). The deduced amino acid sequence consists of 258 residues including a signal peptide of 18 residues. Acco...
