Abstract Stochastic model for synthetic data generation is not available for daily flows of intermittent streams. Such a model is required in the planning and operation of structures on an intermittent stream for purposes where short time flow fluctuations are important. In this study a model is developed for such a case. The model consists of four steps: determination of the days on which fl...

Coccidioidomycosis is caused by a dimorphic fungus species endemic to the arid and semi-arid regions of the Americas. The species have a terranean habitat producing a primary pulmonary infection by inhalation of arthroconidia. We describe a case of extrapulmonary coccidioidomycosis presenting with extensive lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, and florid cutaneous lesions. This case is intended to he...

Lichen Endocarpon pusillum is a highly desiccation-tolerant and dominant species in biological soil crusts in arid and semi-arid regions. We report the draft genome sequence of a lichen-forming fungus, E. pusillum strain KoLRILF000583. The draft genome assembly has a size of 37,173,200 bp with a GC content of 49.71%, consisting of 40 scaffolds.

Mangroves are one of the few woody ecosystems that grow in hot-arid climates. They can survive extreme conditions low precipitation, high solar radiation, wide temperature fluctuations and hypersalinity. These unique mangroves have distinct geomorphology, hydrology, forest structure, tree physiology, soil biogeochemistry. In this review, supported by field data from Australia Mexico, we explore...

This research aims to introduce the water supply method required for pistachio orchards in semi-arid climatic regions using the rainwater harvesting technique. For this purpose, a rain catchment system with an area of 1000 m2 was constructed at the Tasuj Station site. Based on the mean annual rainfall of the region, runoff threshold, runoff coefficient for insulation surfaces and the area of th...
