Toxoplasma gondii transmission via breastfeeding has been discussed; however, no cases have been confirmed to date. This article describes a case of acute toxoplasmosis diagnosed in a mother and her six-month-old breastfed infant. The study accounts for the possibility of breast milk transmission and directs both clinicians and pediatricians to the hypothesis that both patients acquired toxopla...
Background: Toxoplasmosis is one of the a parasitic infectious caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. Congenital toxoplasmosis can cause abortion or fetus damage in pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis (IgG & IgM) among the pregnant women referred to Aleshtar rural and urban health centers in 2008. Materials and Methods: Total 331 ...

It develops when CD4 count falls below 100 cells/cmm, either from acute exposure to the parasite or from reactivation of latent infection. These patients may also develop extra-cerebral toxoplasmosis such as...

We report a case of Guillain-Barré syndrome associated with an acute, disseminated toxoplasmosis due to a new and unknown zymodeme (zymodeme 12) in an immunocompetent patient. The patient's condition improved with pyrimethamine and sulfadiazine. Only the standard treatment for toxoplasmosis was effective, whereas intravenous immunoglobulins were ineffective.
