The existence of unguided TM and TE Gaussian beams is derived in a simple way from the wave equation for the vector potential, and the field configurations are discussed. We point out the possibility of a new type of free-electron laser.

We report the spontaneous dimerization process of the full-length Aβ42 proteins in water by using unguided, fully atomistic, explicit-water molecular dynamics simulations. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, we demonstrate that Aβ42 dimerization in water occurs via a two-step nucleation-accommodation mechanism driven by water-induced force and by protein internal force, respectively.

This poster describes informal testing of a wearable augmented reality system as a method to guide school age children to specific outdoor locations where learning content might be situated. Speed and accuracy of students in finding locations is evaluated comparing paper maps with guided and unguided wearable augmented reality.

We propose to develop a domain-independent framework to automatically generate guidance for students in an exploratory scientific learning environment, where this guidance takes the form of interactive narrative. Our hypothesis is that this form of guidance yields statistically significant improvements in learning effectiveness and efficiency over unguided exploratory learning or direct pedagogy.
