This paper describes a process of obtaining nanosilver and nanogold based on chemical reduction using substances contained in the aqueous extract of dog rose (Rosa canina). The resulting products were subjected to spectrophotometric analysis (UV-Vis), and testing of the nanoparticles' size and suspension stability was carried out by measuring the electrokinetic potential, ζ, via dynamic light s...
objective(s): in recent years, the biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles has been the focus of interest because of their emerging application in a number of areas such as biomedicine. in the present study we report the extracellular biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles (aunps) by using a positive bacterium named streptomyces fulvissimus isolate u from rice fields of guilan province, iran.materials a...
Nanogold particles of size 15 nm were used to label goat anti-human ceruloplasmin (GCP) to obtain an immunonanogold probe (AuGCP) for ceruloplasmin (CP). In a pH 7.8 citric acid-Na(2)HPO(4) buffer solution and in the presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG), an immunoreaction between AuGCP and CP took place, and the released nanogold particles aggregated to bigger clusters, which caused the resona...
Cystic fibrosis, one of the major human inherited diseases, is caused by defects in the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator), a cell-membrane protein. CFTR acts as a chloride channel which can be opened by ATP. Low-resolution structural studies of purified recombinant human CFTR are described in the present paper. Localization of the C-terminal decahistidine tag in CFTR wa...
Amyloid fibrils are formed by a model surfactant-like peptide (Ala)10-(His)6 containing a hexa-histidine tag. This peptide undergoes a remarkable two-step self-assembly process with two distinct critical aggregation concentrations (cac's), probed by fluorescence techniques. A micromolar range cac is ascribed to the formation of prefibrillar structures, whereas a millimolar range cac is associat...
Abstract Rapid synthesis of nanomaterials in scalable quantities is critical for accelerating the discovery and commercial translation nanoscale-based technologies. The metal nanogold silver volumes larger than 100 mL not automatized might require use harsh conditions that most cases detrimental production nanoparticles with reproducible size distributions. In this work, we present development ...
This communication reports the development of a TiO2-streptavidin nanoconjugate as a new biological label for X-ray bio-imaging applications; this new probe, used in conjunction with the nanogold probe, will make it possible to obtain quantitative, high-resolution information about the location of proteins using X-ray microscopy.
The potential of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in therapeutic and diagnostic cancer applications is becoming increasingly recognized, which focuses on their efficient and specific delivery from passive accumulation in tumour tissue to directly targeting tumor-specific biomarkers. AuNPs functionalized by pH low insertion peptide (pHLIP) have recently revealed the capability of targeting acidic tiss...
Silicone polymers containing the light-activated antimicrobial agent methylene blue with or without gold nanoparticles were evaluated for their ability to reduce the microbial load on surfaces in a clinical environment. When irradiated with white light, polymers containing nanogold were more effective in this respect than those containing only methylene blue.
