Micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), which can separate neutral analytes as well as charged analytes by the capillary electrophoretic technique, was developed in 1982 and the first paper was published in 1984. The authors’ group concentrated their effort into the characterization of MEKC as a separation technique until early 1990s. Most issues in MEKC separations were successfully sol...

This review paper gives an overview of capillary electromigration methods used in the analysis of collagen. Analyses of the parent chains as well as of the bromcyane and collagenase fragments of collagens are presented. Methods include capillary zone electrophoresis, capillary gel electrophoresis, micellar electrokinetic chromatography as well as combinations of HPLC and capillary electrophores...

Micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) was used for the separation and determination of two iridoid glycosides, aucubin and catalpol, in several Plantago species growing in Croatia: P. altissima L., P. argentea Chaix, P. coronopus L., P. holosteum Scop. (subsp. depauperata, subsp. holosteum and subsp. scopulorum), P. lagopus L., P. lanceolata L., and P. maritima L. Hot water extraction (...

A simple and efficient MEKC method was developed to simultaneously determine human insulin, its five analogues, the main degradation products and the excipients usually present in injection formulations. A very fast method with a total analysis time of 3 min was then successfully validated for the analysis of human insulin and the quality control of commercial formulations was carried out.

The complex nature of biofluids demands efficient, sensitive and high-resolution analytical methodologies to examine how the 'metabolic fingerprint' changes during disease. This paper describes how sulphated beta-cyclodextrin-modified micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (SbetaCD-MECC) has been combined with data alignment analysis and may prove a useful new tool in urine profiling,...

The validated micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) was proposed for the determination of five steroid hormones in human urine samples. That technique allowed for the separation and quantification of cortisol, cortisone, corticosterone, testosterone, and epitestosterone and was sensitive enough to detect low concentrations of these searched steroids in urine samples at the range of 2-30...

The separation of nine furanonaphthoquinones by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) is described. The running electrolytes used in this method were 0.03 M sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in 0.09 M borate buffer (pH 9) containing 10% methanol, with an applied voltage of 20 kV. Application of this technique in the determination of the main furanonaphthoquinones, 5-hydroxy-2-(1-hydroxyethy...

short timeframe, and rapid approaches are needed to assess log Pow values of these compounds (2,4,7). Several separation-based approaches for indirectly determining log Pow values in a rapid fashion have been reported, including reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) (2,3,8–11), thin-layer chromatography (12,13), micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) (7,14–16), and...
